Profile Requirements: COMPETENCIES & SKILLS • Solid drafting skills • Verbal & Written Communication skills • Conflict resolution & negotiation skills • Problem solving and decision making skills • Planning & organisational skills • Time Management • Commercial & Financial Acumen • Multi-tasking • Attention to detail with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines and attend to urgent matters EXPERIENCE & RELEVANT EDUCATION • Excellent commercial and retail leasing legal experience across Australia • Thorough knowledge of national retail tenancy legislation and related property legislation in Australia • Proven experience in negotiations • Experience in retail property industry (Australia) desirable. • Computer Skills in Word, Outlook, Excel, Onenote and the Internet • Relevant Legal Qualification • Senior Experience within Australian retailer and Australian Lease firm (desired) OUR BEHAVIOURS • We collaborate & support • We empower & trust our teams • We encourage entrepreneurship • We do the right thing • We are accountable Systems: Lease Eagle Core responsibilities: Lease negotiations • Draft, review, negotiate and advise on lease documents in line with company guideline as directed • Ensuring lease documentation is compliant, accurately reflecting financial negotiations and complying with relevant legislations and Sussan Group guidelines. • Seek best outcome for Sussan Group Communication • Ensure the Group Leasing Manager is kept informed on all key matters in a timely manner. Legal Advice • Draft & provide legal advice • Respond to requests on legal advice in relation to leases in a timely and co-operative manner. Legal support • End to end file management of retail or commercial leasing matters • Provide legal support to the Group Leasing Manager and leasing team as required Legal compliance • Ensure Lease documentation accurately reflects financial negotiations • Ensure Lease documents comply with relevant legislation and Sussan Group guidelines Research/Research legal matters • Liaise with internal team members, store team members, agents, landlords and external lawyers • Research retail leasing law matters • Obtain information on legal requirements Recommend Improvements to leasing systems • Identify & recommend improvement in systems used by the Leasing Department Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. • Ensure our B Corp standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability are met. • Ensure Company policies & procedures are adhered to at all times. • Ensure the Group Retail CEO & Group People & Community Partnerships Managers are kept up to date on any legal matters or issues that may result in reputational damage to the Brand.
