We are seeking a highly meticulous and proactive offshore Design Manager / Contract Administrator to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will bridge the gap between design conception and project delivery for Australian-based construction projects.
You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end design coordination process—from initial client briefs through Development Application (DA) and Complying Development Certificate (CDC) stages, all the way to securing the Occupation Certificate (OC). The ideal candidate possesses a sharp eye for architectural detail, strong cross-discipline coordination skills, and a solid understanding of the Australian building regulatory framework.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Brief Coordination
Align Client Vision: Coordinate architectural drawings with the client brief to ensure all design iterations reflect the client's requirements, budget, and expectations.
Quality & Detail Control: Review architectural and engineering drawings with a high level of attention to detail to spot errors, omissions, and spatial conflicts.
Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Collaborate and clash-detect drawings across multiple disciplines (Architectural, Structural, MEP, Civil) to ensure seamless integration.
Planning & Approvals Management (DA & CDC)
DA Preparation: Manage the preparation of drawings, statements, and reports required for Development Application (DA) submissions to local councils.
CDC Preparation: Coordinate drawings and compliance documentation for Complying Development Certificate (CDC) pathways.
Consultant Liaison: Engage, coordinate, and drive deliverables from external consultants (e.g., Town Planners, Traffic Engineers, Heritage Consultants, Acoustic Engineers).
Certification & Project Delivery (PCA & OC)
PCA Engagement: Liaise directly with the Principal Certifier (PCA) throughout the construction lifecycle.
Compliance Tracking: Proactively coordinate, collect, and review all construction certificates, warranties, and compliance statements.
Occupation Certificate (OC): Manage the close-out process to successfully achieve the Occupation Certificate (OC) without delays.
Contract Administration & Estimation Support
Drawing Takeoffs: Perform accurate material and quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawings to assist with budgeting and contract administration.
Documentation Management: Maintain flawless version control of all drawing registers, variations, and contract documents.
Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in Design Management, Coordination, or Contract Administration, specifically working on Australian residential, commercial, or mixed-useprojects.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or arelated discipline.
Strong proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and Bluebeam/Adobe for markups andtakeoffs.
Experience with project management and document control platforms (e.g., Procore, Aconex, or Jobpac).
Solid understanding of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) / National Construction Code (NCC),
Local Environmental Plans (LEPs), and Development Control Plans (DCPs).
Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills (essential for consultant and PCA liaison).
Strong attention to detail and a knack for problem-solving.
