Job Description
As a Research Associate, you will identify, assess, and connect expert witnesses with legal teams handling complex matters. Through in-depth research, expert sourcing, relationship building, and strategic analysis, you will help deliver high-quality expert matches that support successful legal outcomes across a wide range of industries and disciplines.
Your Daily Tasks
- Deliver high-quality expert matches by conducting thorough desktop research across industries, disciplines, and jurisdictions.
- Source suitable experts beyond the platform when required, including niche industries, international markets, and non-traditional pathways.
- Analyze case briefs to understand client needs, legal context, technical criteria for expert engagement, and proactively challenge briefs to advise on expert scope where appropriate.
- Provide clients with clear and accurate expert profiles and capability assessments to support decision-making, including potential risks, credibility considerations, and commercial fit.
- Directly engage with potential experts to assess suitability, availability, independence, and alignment with case requirements.
- Establish and nurture strong, long-term relationships with experts to maintain a reliable and responsive network capable of supporting urgent and high-impact client needs.
- Work closely with Case Management teams to ensure smooth and timely expert matching and client delivery.
- Build strong client relationships by clarifying needs, offering sourcing advice, and aligning recommendations with expectations.
- Keep the internal expert database accurate and up to date, including sourcing insights and potential commercial risk notes to support efficient future sourcing.
- Monitor market trends, emerging fields, and adjacent disciplines to strengthen and expand the expert network.
- Proactively uncover high-quality expert talent by developing innovative sourcing strategies beyond traditional markets and disciplines.
- Manage high-volume, fast-turnaround requests with accuracy, speed, and care.
- Drive continuous improvement through process enhancements, team knowledge sharing, and sourcing innovation by contributing market intelligence and lessons learned.
The Qualifications We Seek
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Business, Research, Science, Engineering, or a related field to support informed analysis and expert matching.
- 1-3 years of experience in research, legal, recruitment, or professional services environments, contributing to efficient and high-quality service delivery.
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to quickly distill complex information and identify the most suitable experts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly present information and build credibility with clients and experts.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of professional services or the legal sector to ensure relevance and value in expert recommendations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining high-quality output.
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in client-facing materials and internal records.
- Confidence in engaging with senior professionals, enabling effective collaboration and expert engagement.
