AI Voice Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and forward-thinking AI Voice Engineer to join our clients team within telecommunication Industry.In this role, you will design, build, and optimize AI-powered voice systems that serve millions of customers across our network. You will bridge the worlds of telecommunications infrastructure and artificial intelligence, driving automation, improving call quality, and delivering intelligent voice experiences at scale. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of NLP, speech technology, and telecom systems. You will work closely with product managers, network engineers, and data scientists to build voice solutions that are reliable, scalable, and genuinely intelligent.

Key Responsibilities

Voice AI Development

• Design and develop AI-powered Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems and conversational voice agents
• Build and fine-tune Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) pipelines for telecom use cases
• Implement Natural Language Understanding (NLU) models to accurately interpret customer intent in voice interactions
• Integrate large language models (LLMs) into real-time voice workflows for dynamic, context-aware responses

Telephony & Infrastructure

• Develop and maintain SIP-based voice architectures, VoIP systems, and telephony integrations
• Work with platforms such as Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, or cloud-native telephony APIs (Twilio, Vonage, AWS Connect)
• Ensure low-latency, high-availability voice systems capable of handling enterprise-scale concurrent calls
• Integrate AI voice systems with CRM, billing, and customer management platforms via APIs

Quality, Optimization & Analytics

• Monitor voice AI performance using KPIs such as intent recognition accuracy, call containment rate, and CSAT
• Continuously retrain and optimize ASR/NLU models based on real-world call data
• Conduct A/B testing on conversation flows to improve customer experience and reduce escalation rates
• Build dashboards and reporting tools to surface voice AI performance insights to stakeholders

Collaboration & Delivery

• Collaborate with product teams to translate business requirements into voice AI features
• Participate in Agile sprints, contributing to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
• Document system architectures, APIs, and model deployment procedures
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing on voice AI best practices
  

Required Qualification

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Telecommunications, or a related field
• 4+ years of hands-on experience building voice AI or conversational AI systems
• Strong proficiency in Python with experience in speech/NLP libraries (Kaldi, SpeechBrain, Hugging Face, Rasa, or similar)
• Proven experience with ASR platforms (Google Speech-to-Text, AWS Transcribe, Azure Speech, or open-source alternatives)
• Solid understanding of SIP, RTP, and VoIP protocols
• Experience deploying and managing AI models in production environments (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines)
• Familiarity with telephony platforms such as Twilio, AWS Connect, Vonage, Genesys, or Cisco Unified Communications
• Strong command of REST APIs and experience integrating third-party services

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within a telecom operator or large-scale contact center environment
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) for voice-based applications
• Knowledge of real-time streaming ASR and its implementation challenges in live telephony
• Exposure to call analytics, speaker diarization, and voice biometrics
• Familiarity with regulatory standards in telecoms including GDPR and data residency requirements
• Experience with VXML or CCXML standards for voice application development
