The Critical Environment Cleaner II (CEC II) operates independently in active HPC data center environments, executing advanced cleaning, decontamination, and contamination event response protocols. This role requires demonstrated competency in ESD-safe practices, HEPA/ULPA equipment operation, and sub-floor cleaning procedures. CEC II staff mentor CEC I employees during assigned shifts and serve as the primary point of escalation for contamination concerns in the absence of the Lead CEC. Eligible CEC IIs with 12+ months of tenure may be nominated to the Train-the-Trainer program. High school diploma or GED Minimum 1 year of verifiable experience in data center cleaning, cleanroom, controlled-environment facility, or Bitcoin Mining Operations repair/facilities OSHA 10 General Industry certification —requiredprior to or within30 daysof hire (employer-paid) ESD S20.20 Awareness certification —requiredwithin 90 days (employer-paid) HEPA/ULPA vacuum and cleaning equipment certification — employer-provided or third-party Confined Space Entry awareness (29 CFR1910.146) —requiredwithin180 days Availability for 24/7 rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays Ability to pass background check and drug screen CPR / First Aid / AED certification —required within 60 days (employer-paid) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ANSI/BICSI 002 Data Center Cleaning Protocol certification or equivalent Formal training in ISO 14644 contamination control standards Experience operating independently on off-shifts in mission-critical or industrial environments Prior experience mentoring or informally leading small work teams Chemical handling training (IPA, dry cleaning solvents, SDS protocols) Advanced Data Hall Operations Perform allCEC Iduties independently in active server halls with live, energized equipment Execute raised floor tile removal and sub-floor vacuumingin accordance withapproved MOPs Clean and decontaminate overhead cable trays, perforated floor tiles, and blanking panels Apply contamination control procedures to equipment corridors, cooling infrastructure, and cable management areas Operate all department cleaning equipment including HEPA/ULPA vacuums, anti-static systems, and specialty wipes Contamination Event Response Identify, triage, and escalate contamination events in accordance with site EOP Contain and document contamination incidents until Lead CEC or Supervisor assumes command Participate in quarterly contamination event response drills as a scenario participant Complete and file post-event incident documentation accurately within 24 hours Chemical Handling & SDS Compliance Safely handle approved cleaning solvents including IPA (isopropyl alcohol) and dry cleaning agents per SDS protocols Ensure no unapproved chemicals enter active data hall floors Conduct regular review of SDS materials and confirm chemical inventory is current Documentation & Shift Operations Maintain accurate cleaning logs, materials usage records, and equipment condition reports Mentor and provide real-time guidance to CEC I staff during assigned shifts Complete and sign shift documentation prior to departure — no unsigned shift logs permitted Report infrastructure or safety concerns to Lead CEC immediately and in writing At IREN, we offer a comprehensive, market-competitive total rewards package designed to support employees’ well-being, career advancement, and financial wealth.
