Job Description
We're seeking a Senior Enterprise Solutions Architect to serve as the strategic voice for Salesforce at the enterprise level. This is not a platform configuration role or a direct management position—it's an executive-level architecture role where you'll sit above platform and solution architects, operating at the 30,000-foot view while understanding how Salesforce impacts all enterprise systems (ERP, ServiceNow, identity management, data systems, etc.).
You'll have a voting seat on the Enterprise Architecture Board, influencing architectural decisions across the entire technology portfolio. Your mission is to ensure the Salesforce platform scales securely, complies with financial regulations, and integrates seamlessly with 5+ other enterprise systems without accumulating technical debt. You'll be the connective tissue across engineering, security, product, and business teams—driving consensus and alignment among stakeholders who don't report to you while mentoring architects and developers on best practices.
This role exists because every integration point between Salesforce and other enterprise systems represents a potential point of failure. You'll be accountable for seeing the big picture: when Salesforce makes a decision, how does it ripple through the ERP? When Finance implements a change, what's the compliance impact in Salesforce? You'll document architectural decisions using ADRs (Architectural Decision Records) so future teams understand not just what was decided, but why.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Alignment
- Drive consensus and handle disagreements across engineering, security, product, and business teams without direct authority.
- Sit on the Enterprise Architecture Board and represent Salesforce at the executive strategic level.
- Own and maintain the operating model for how work is requested, reviewed, approved, and built on Salesforce across the enterprise.
- Serve as the final decision-maker on significant architectural choices, framing options clearly for leadership based on business value, risks, and impact.
- Align Salesforce projects with broader business goals, ensuring technical investments deliver actual business capabilities.
Security, Compliance & Data Strategy
- Lead the design of global identity, user permissions, and zero-trust security architecture (enterprise SSO, MFA, secure authentication).
- Own the platform data strategy: data flow, duplicate data resolution, clean data models, and compliance across SOX, PCI, GDPR, and financial regulations.
- Oversee sandbox management, data masking, and privacy controls across all Salesforce environments.
- Define and standardize integration patterns using modern approaches (event-driven messaging, middleware, streaming) across Salesforce, MuleSoft, Oracle ERP, and other enterprise systems.
- Establish guardrails for safe use of Generative AI on the platform and ensure robust system monitoring and logging (SIEM) to catch performance and security issues early.
Integration & Enterprise Architecture
- Ensure Salesforce integrates seamlessly with 5+ enterprise systems (ERP, ServiceNow, ACM, identity management, data systems).
- Design for multi-cloud, multi-org Salesforce architecture that scales across the enterprise without creating integration bottlenecks or compliance gaps.
- Partner with other enterprise architects (ERP architect, security architect, infrastructure architect) on cross-system technical decisions.
Delivery, Quality & Governance
- Partner with project and release teams to enforce strict standards for system reliability, uptime, performance, and long-term maintainability.
- Own technical decisions behind deployment pipelines and CI/CD modernization, moving toward automated, smooth deployments.
- Hold external consulting firms and system integrators accountable; set clear expectations for code quality and review deliverables before production release.
- Document architectural decisions using ADRs so other architects understand the reasoning behind decisions.
- Mentor and coach architects, developers, and admins on secure coding, automation, and best practices for scalable design.
Required Experience / Skills
- Minimum 10 years of total IT/technology experience across diverse systems and architectures.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on Salesforce experience specifically in enterprise, multi-cloud, multi-org environments.
- Proven matrixed leadership skills: demonstrated ability to influence, manage conflict, and drive consensus across independent teams without direct authority.
- Governance and architecture board experience: sitting on or presenting to an Enterprise Architecture Board; experience documenting decisions using ADRs or equivalent frameworks.
- Broad technical knowledge: deep understanding of how business logic connects to infrastructure (API gateways, middleware, data encryption, compliance requirements, multi-system integration patterns).
- API and integration architecture breadth: experience architecting across 3+ enterprise systems using event-driven patterns, middleware, and modern integration approaches.
- Willingness and ability to travel 10-20% for quarterly PI Planning meetings, IT leadership sessions, and annual conferences (non-negotiable).
- U.S. citizenship required; no immigration sponsorship available.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience cleaning up technical debt, consolidating or merging multiple Salesforce orgs, and modernizing development pipelines.
- Deep expertise with Core Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, CPQ, MuleSoft, and back-office ERP integration.
- Salesforce Application Architect or System Architect certification.
- Experience navigating SOX, PCI, GDPR, or compliance in enterprise fintech or financial services environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related technical field.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience in enterprise architecture and governance will be considered.
