Role Intro The mission of this role is to increase the output, effectiveness, and revenue impact of Uproot Clean’s email and SMS programs through strong execution, lifecycle management, testing, reporting, and optimization. You will own key parts of the retention program across campaigns, flows, segmentation, QA, experimentation, and operational execution. This role works closely with leadership while maintaining significant ownership and autonomy. We are looking for someone who understands ecommerce retention from a revenue-first perspective, thinks critically about customer behavior, identifies opportunities independently, and continuously improves systems and performance. Responsibilities Program & Calendar Run the email and SMS program day to day across campaigns and flows Build and hold the calendar in lockstep with the broader marketing calendar, mapping sends to promotions, launches, and seasonal moments Build, QA, and deploy sends end to end (audience, copy, design, links, UTMs, tracking, schedule) Ensure campaigns, flows, and reporting infrastructure remain operationally clean as program complexity scales Project Management & Creative Coordination Brief the copy and creative team clearly and on time with the context they need to do their best work Track every campaign through build, review, and QA so it ships on schedule Anticipate bottlenecks and unblock them quickly Keep stakeholders aligned on status, timelines, and changes Flow Logic, Segmentation & Data Build and maintain flows with clear logic, reliable triggers, and clean conditional paths Design segments that reflect real customer behavior, not just convenience Read the underlying data well enough to know when a segment, trigger, or conditional split is doing what you think it's doing Performance Analysis & A/B Testing Execute a continuous testing roadmap across subject lines, offers, creative, segments, send times, and flow steps Design tests with clear hypotheses, sample size considerations, and success criteria Pull and reconcile performance data, then translate it into meaningful, actionable conclusions, not just dashboards Distinguish real lifts from noise, document learnings, and build a testing playbook the team can compound on Copy Judgment & Creative QA Review copy and creative with a sharp direct response eye Suggest concrete revisions Deliverability & Compliance Maintain list hygiene, suppression management, and inbox placement health Keep the program compliant with TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and platform policy AI-Forward Workflow Use AI daily across writing, reporting, analysis, and learning Build prompt chains, structured outputs, and automations that take repetitive work off the team’s plate Continuously expand your own AI toolkit and bring new approaches to the team What Success Looks Like Calendar consistently shipped on time with high QA standards Creative team running on clean briefs and predictable timelines Steady stream of validated test wins and clear, actionable reporting the team trusts Measurable improvements in core program KPIs (revenue per send, click-through, conversion, list-driven revenue, deliverability health, flow performance) Requirements Must Have 3+ years of hands-on experience executing an email and SMS program inside an ecommerce or DTC environment Strong understanding of flow logic, segmentation, and the underlying data that makes both work Demonstrated A/B testing background, with a clear point of view on test design and how to read results honestly Deep working knowledge of a major email/SMS platform Comfort working with numbers, pulling from multiple sources, and turning them into actionable conclusions Working understanding of deliverability and compliance fundamentals Daily, demonstrated use of AI across writing, reporting, and analysis beyond basic chat usage, including custom workflows, structured prompts, and lightweight automation Sharp editorial sense Excellent project management and organizational habits Confident, clear written and verbal communicator who can brief, follow up, and hold deadlines without friction Self-starter who anticipates problems and brings solutions Ability to manage high output without sacrificing execution quality or attention to detail Comfortable in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and the bar is high Nice to Have Klaviyo experience Shopify experience Background in a subscription-driven DTC business Industry experience in pet, CPG, supplements, or consumables Who This Role Is Not For Someone who is not internally-driven If you require an external person to push you to do excellent work, this role is not for you.
