About the role The Quality Officer will collaborate with flour mills to ensure that the atta they produce is adequately fortified and adheres to regulatory standards. As part of their role, the Quality Officer will collect and analyse data, and provide guidance and advice to millers. Therefore, the work the Quality Officer does is key to our ability to provide our beneficiaries with a high quality product that meets all safety standards. They will closely work with other teams across Fortify Health and manage communications with external laboratory partners. We are hiring for four positions across Ranchi, Rajkot, Rudrapur/Pantnagar and Jodhpur, based on requirements. Key Responsibilities The Quality Officer will be responsible for the following activities: Sampling and data gathering Performing rapid quantitative iron testing in fortified wheat flour (using iCheck Iron, no prior experience of using iCheck Iron required) for all partner mills Conducting quality control of fortification premix, maintaining the relevant QC documents, helping the operations team with vendor quality audits Manage communication and plan fieldwork between all stakeholders involved in the quality assurance process. Data analysis and reporting Analysing the data, interpreting the results and communicating the outcomes to respective team members Coordinating with external testing laboratory partners for testing of the samples and reports Supporting mid and long-term research activities Consolidate quality data and prepare periodic reports for internal use, sharing with external stakeholders like mill partners and funders. Support exploration of future opportunities for study design and execution. Responsibilities will evolve over time, in discussion with the Senior Quality Officer. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Requirements Willingness to travel up to 50% of working days. Fluency in Hindi, professional fluency in English. Expertise : Experience in the food technology and/or milling technology sectors. Bachelors or higher degree in food technology, milling engineering, or a related field. Execution : Strong organisational skills, with the ability to oversee the quality assurance process from mill to lab. Excellent attention to both detail and results. Collaboration: Proven ability to maintain professional interpersonal relationships with empathy, and work as part of a team. Communication: Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) to relay important quality assurance findings in an accessible way. Problem-solving : Strong creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to efficiently learn and execute best practices where they exist and to innovate where they do not.
