This is a stable , dependable company which works with the biggest UK telecom clients. Job PurposeTo assist the Operational team, undertaking day to day job requirements of FTTH and FTTP. You would work directly in communication with the customer as part of a one or two man team depending on work stream.Key ResponsibilitiesSupporting Fibre Coach with leading with testing potential fibre routes and installing fibre infrastructure in underground networksPreparing cable sheath to enter Closure / Micro Closures / CDC / Wall boxThe Routing of fibres within a closures / CDC and Transport Tubes as per a splicing schedule.Preparing fibres for splicingConfident in the use and basic maintenance of a Works tablet OR , fibre splicing machine, OTDR,Power Meter, Fibre Identifier and Micro ScopeSplicing within loss limitsDressing the fibre and closing the Closure / CDC to the manufactures instructionsSupporting restraining and labelling of trays and cablesDisposing of scrap fibres and cable safelyTo be confident in the reading and understanding the test results for troubleshooting purposes.Strong communication skills are absolutely essential; ability to communicate between co-workers andthird parties.Be able to judge minor changes within a network and report those changes to the Fibre Coach andFibre ManagerEducation/ QualificationsNRSWA unit 2Open reach accredited pole certification, SA001, SA002 , NRSWA , IPAF, Smart card desirableDemonstrable experience with a proven track record working in a networking engineeringenvironment, in senior engineering roleAdvanced knowledge of FTTP and FTTH technologiesOperations and maintenance of metro/long-haul optical transmissionNetworks, DWDM and SDH or SONET technologiesWorking with optical transmission equipment from well-establishedSound ability to diagnose problems with existing equipment and fix faults up to resolution.Ability to communicate fluently with the customers and should possess good customer service skillsApply to find out more !
