We are adding a Junior Project Manager to help us organize the build of internal dashboards and data tools for a logistics and shipping group. Since this client is currently rolling out our reporting software across their partner network in France, this role involves checking that our development milestones match their local operational requirements. This is a fully remote role where you will help a small team of developers stay on track while we replace outdated spreadsheets with structured databases. You will be part of a team that cares more about whether a tool works for a warehouse manager than whether it follows the latest design trend.
Employment setup
This is a permanent, full-time fully remote role. You will be engaged by Pixel Systems, which is based in the United States. While we are listing this position to support our ongoing activities in France, we accept applications from candidates in any location who have the right to work in their country of residence. You will need a reliable internet connection and about 4 hours of overlap with US Eastern Time for team syncs. The role is paid and offers attractive pay for an entry-level position. You will report to our Senior Project Manager. Our hiring process involves an initial chat, a short written exercise to see how you document technical tasks, and a final interview with our founders, usually completed within two weeks.
About Pixel Systems
Pixel Systems is a small, remote software agency that builds the tools teams actually use to get their work done. We do not build flashy consumer apps or marketing sites. Instead, we focus on the practical systems that run a business: admin panels, CRM integrations, and database migrations. Our clients come to us when they need to make different software tools talk to one another or when their internal processes have become too complex for a spreadsheet to handle.
Our approach is straightforward. We provide fixed quotes, perform weekly demos, and hand over everything when we are finished, including the code and recorded walkthrough videos. We use reliable technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because stability matters more to our clients than chasing trends. We are a team of practitioners who prefer solving real operational headaches without the drama of traditional corporate layers.
The role
As a Junior Project Manager, your job is to keep the project moving. You will not be expected to write code, but you will need to understand what the developers are building so you can explain it to the client. You will spend your time organizing tasks, checking that we are hitting our weekly demo targets, and making sure the documentation we give to the shipping group is easy to follow.
A typical week might involve:
- Updating task boards to reflect the progress of database migrations.
- Drafting summary notes after client meetings to ensure everyone is on the same page.
- Testing new features in our staging environment to make sure they follow the agreed-upon requirements.
- Helping to create short video walkthroughs that show the client how to use their new dashboard.
- Following up with developers to see if they have any blockers that will delay the weekly demo.
- Checking that the data labels in the system match the specific terminology used by the logistics team.
What we are looking for
We need someone who is organized and does not get bored by the details of business operations. You do not need to be a computer scientist, but you should be comfortable around technology and eager to learn how software is built from the ground up.
- A high level of organization and the ability to track multiple small tasks at once.
- Clear, plain-spoken writing skills for internal notes and client updates.
- A basic understanding of how websites or databases work.
- Comfortable using tools like Notion, Trello, or Jira to track work.
- The ability to admit when you do not understand a technical term and the curiosity to ask for an explanation.
- A preference for simple, functional results over complex or artistic ones.
Helpful background
These are not requirements, but we might move faster if you have some exposure to the following:
- Familiarity with the logistics or shipping industry.
- Previous experience in a remote environment.
- Interest in learning the basics of SQL or how APIs connect different services.
- Experience helping a group or club stay organized during school or a previous internship.
Working at Pixel Systems
Working here is different from a typical agency. Because we use fixed-price quotes, we do not track every minute of your day. We care about the weekly demo. If the client is happy and the software is stable, we are happy. You will work directly with senior developers who have been building systems for decades, giving you a chance to see exactly how professional software is delivered without the fluff.
We provide the necessary software licenses and a budget for learning materials. We maintain a calm work environment where we value your ability to communicate clearly and get the job done without over-complicating things. We are a small team, which means your work will be visible and your contributions to our logistics projects will be felt immediately by the people using our tools.
