Job Title: IT Administrator
Location: Remote (South Africa)
Type: Full-time
About US
Oraion is building the governed data foundation that makes enterprise AI trustworthy. We’re defining and owning the AI Readiness framework as the new enterprise standard.
We are looking for an IT Administrator to build and own all IT operations as our first dedicated IT hire.
About the Role
As an IT Administrator at Oraion, you will own and professionalize all IT operations — device management, access controls, onboarding/offboarding, endpoint security, and internal support — so the engineering team can focus on building product.
This is Oraion’s first dedicated IT hire. We have IT processes in place today, but no dedicated team owning them. You will take ownership and professionalize what exists while building what’s missing: rolling out MDM, enforcing SSO and MFA across all SaaS tools, deploying endpoint security, establishing a complete asset inventory, and creating the compliance foundations required for SOC 2 and enterprise sales.
You will directly impact seven pillars of the engineering strategy: security, compliance, quality, cost, scaling engineering, supporting sales scaling, and efficiency gains. The right person will treat this as an opportunity to build something, not maintain something.
As a small and fast-moving team, we value people who think in systems, communicate clearly in async environments, and can operate independently without constant direction.
Responsibilities
• Roll out and manage MDM across all company devices — full visibility, configuration control, and compliance enforcement
• Own onboarding and offboarding end-to-end — devices, accounts, access, and tools provisioned automatically and revoked immediately on departure
• Enforce SSO and MFA across all SaaS tools; eliminate shared credentials and deploy 1Password company-wide
• Deploy and manage endpoint security — EDR, disk encryption, patching SLAs on all devices
• Build and maintain a complete, auditable asset inventory of all hardware and software licenses
• Deploy Tailscale for zero-trust networking across all applicable systems
• Own all IT-related SOC 2 controls — ensure they are followed and audit-ready at all times
• Provide all internal IT support — zero IT issues should land on engineers or engineering leadership
• Build self-service IT documentation and a knowledge base so common issues are resolved without tickets
• Run SaaS license audits and optimization — eliminate unused seats and redundant tools with ongoing quarterly reviews
• Standardize hardware lifecycle management — procurement standards, asset tracking, and lifecycle policies
• Support sales scaling — ensure new sales hires have CRM, tools, and access fully provisioned on day 1
Requirements
• 3+ years of experience in IT administration, IT engineering, or a similar hands-on IT role
• Hands-on experience with MDM platforms (Jamf, Intune, JumpCloud, or similar)
• Strong experience with SSO/IdP providers (Okta, Google Workspace, Azure AD, or similar)
• Experience deploying and managing endpoint security tools (EDR, disk encryption, patching)
• Experience with credential management platforms (1Password, Bitwarden, or similar)
• Comfortable managing Mac-first environments and cloud-based infrastructure
• Experience building IT processes from scratch — onboarding, offboarding, asset management, documentation
• Understanding of compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001) and how IT controls support them
• Proven ability to work autonomously and drive projects to completion without constant direction
• Excellent written communication and async collaboration skills
• Fluent in English
Bonus Points
• Experience with zero-trust networking tools (Tailscale, Cloudflare Access, or similar)
• Experience with JumpCloud as a unified device and identity management platform
• Familiarity with GCP and AWS cloud environments from an IT/access management perspective
• Experience leveraging AI tools to automate IT workflows, generate scripts, and multiply output
• Startup or high-growth environment experience where you built IT from the ground up
• Experience preparing for or supporting SOC 2 audits
What We Offer
• High-impact, greenfield role with full ownership over IT operations
• Opportunity to build IT infrastructure from scratch and shape how the company scales
• Collaborative, fast-moving engineering team
• Competitive compensation
• Remote-first, flexible working culture
• Opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI products handling complex enterprise data
