Interior Designer & Purchaser

About the Role

We are seeking a highly practical and systems-oriented Interior Designer & Purchaser to support the growth of our furnished apartment portfolio.

This role is not focused on one-off design projects. Instead, we are looking for someone who understands scalability, standardization, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate can create repeatable furniture systems that work across multiple apartment layouts while balancing design quality, budget, availability, and operational requirements.

In addition to interior design responsibilities, this role will oversee furniture sourcing, purchasing, vendor coordination, installation scheduling, and procurement tracking to ensure apartments are fully furnished and move-in ready on time.

Key ResponsibilitiesInterior Design & Space Planning

• Design standardized furniture packages for studio and one-bedroom apartments.
• Create scalable and repeatable design systems that can be deployed across multiple properties.
• Develop floor plans, furniture layouts, and mood boards for furnished apartments.
• Ensure designs remain functional, visually appealing, and adaptable across different apartment styles and finishes.
• Optimize layouts to maximize comfort, usability, and guest experience.

Procurement & Purchasing

• Source furniture, décor, and accessories from vendors such as Wayfair, Amazon, Walmart, and similar suppliers.
• Build and maintain detailed procurement lists, including product specifications, pricing, and ordering information.
• Identify alternative products when items become unavailable or discontinued.
• Manage purchasing activities while maintaining design consistency and budget requirements.

Vendor & Installation Coordination

• Coordinate furniture deliveries, installations, and apartment setup schedules.
• Work closely with vendors, contractors, installers, and operations teams.
• Monitor delivery timelines and proactively address delays or fulfillment issues.
• Ensure furniture is assembled and installed according to approved layouts and specifications.
• Conduct quality checks and address installation concerns when necessary.

Project Management & Operations

• Track inventory, orders, shipments, and delivery schedules.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and procurement records.
• Manage timelines from vacant apartment to fully furnished, guest-ready unit.
• Coordinate multiple furnishing projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Provide regular project updates to management.

Issue Resolution

• Handle damaged items, missing shipments, returns, and replacement orders.
• Resolve vendor-related issues efficiently to prevent project delays.
• Ensure furnishing projects remain on schedule despite sourcing or logistics challenges.
  

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with U.S.-based clients, customers, or companies.
• Proven experience in interior design, furniture sourcing, procurement, purchasing, or project coordination.
• Experience furnishing residential units, hospitality properties, vacation rentals, or multi-unit projects is preferred.
• Strong understanding of furniture sourcing and purchasing processes.
• Experience creating floor plans, furniture layouts, mood boards, and furniture specifications.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational, project management, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to balance design quality with budget, availability, and operational requirements.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, procurement tracking tools, and vendor platforms.
  

Preferred Experience

• Hospitality, short-term rental, multifamily housing, or property management experience.
• Experience sourcing from Wayfair, Amazon, Walmart, and similar vendors.
• Procurement, purchasing, logistics, or supply chain coordination experience.
• Experience coordinating furniture installations and contractor schedules.
• Familiarity with furnishing apartments for Airbnb, corporate housing, or short-term rental properties.
