About the Role
Law&Crime is seeking an HR Specialist to support the day-to-day execution of our People Operations function.
This role serves as a key operational partner across onboarding, employee systems administration, recruiting coordination, employee communications, and culture initiatives. The HR Specialist will help ensure that employees have a seamless experience throughout their lifecycle while supporting the systems, processes, and programs that keep the organization running smoothly.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position offers an opportunity to gain broad exposure across People Operations, employee experience, recruiting, systems administration, and organizational operations within a growing media company.
Responsibilities
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Coordinate end-to-end onboarding activities for new hires, including scheduling, documentation, system setup, and cross-functional communication.
- Prepare and distribute new hire announcements.
- Maintain onboarding and offboarding checklists and ensure required tasks are completed on time.
- Support offboarding workflows, documentation, and system updates.
- Help create a positive and professional employee experience throughout key transition points.
HR Systems & Employee Records
- Maintain employee records and data within TriNet and related systems.
- Ensure employee information is accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Support audits, reporting requests, and compliance-related documentation.
- Maintain digital filing systems and People Operations documentation.
- Assist with process improvements that enhance efficiency and organization.
Recruiting Coordination
- Post job openings across recruitment platforms and manage job board activity.
- Coordinate interviews and candidate scheduling.
- Communicate logistics and updates to candidates and hiring managers.
- Support candidate pipeline tracking and recruiting documentation.
- Assist with offer letter preparation and distribution using approved templates.
Employee Communication & Culture
- Draft and distribute internal People Operations communications, including new hire announcements, reminders, and employee updates.
- Assist with planning and coordinating employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and company events.
- Maintain People Operations resources, guides, and internal documentation.
- Support initiatives that contribute to employee engagement and a positive workplace culture.
Performance & Program Administration
- Support administration of performance review cycles and employee feedback programs.
- Assist with surveys, reporting, reminders, and process coordination.
- Maintain People Operations calendars, project timelines, and key milestones.
- Coordinate logistics for training, development, and leadership programs as needed.
Employee Support & People Operations
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions related to benefits, policies, PTO, and People Operations processes.
- Coordinate leave administration processes in partnership with TriNet and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with payroll-related employee updates and routine payroll inquiries.
- Partner with the EVP of People & Operations and Office Manager to support People Operations initiatives and organizational priorities.
- Help identify opportunities to improve employee experience and operational effectiveness.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in Human Resources, People Operations, Recruiting Coordination, Office Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working with HRIS, applicant tracking systems, or similar business systems.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong follow-through and ability to work independently with limited oversight.
- Demonstrated ownership of administrative or operational processes.
- Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications.
- Enthusiasm for employee experience, workplace culture, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with TriNet or another PEO platform.
- Experience supporting remote or distributed teams.
- Experience coordinating recruiting or onboarding programs.
- Familiarity with leave administration, benefits administration, or payroll processes.
- Interest in media, digital content, or high-growth organizations.
