NHS’s Homeownership Services Department delivers a robust portfolio of homebuyer education classes, workshops, webinars, and community learning initiatives annually. The Homeownership Education Coordinator is responsible for the strategic development, coordination, delivery, and continuous improvement of the organization’s homeownership education curriculum across in-person and digital platforms. The role will utilize cultural competency, client feedback, instructional best practices, and data-driven insights to design engaging, relevant, and high-impact educational experiences that improve knowledge retention and advance financial empowerment. The successful candidate will be innovative, adaptable, and mission-driven, with the ability to modernize educational delivery methods while maintaining high-quality client engagement outcomes. The Homeownership Education Coordinator will also be responsible for identifying facilities for classes and workshops in traditional and non-traditional spaces and scheduling all classes, workshops and webinars. PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Develop culturally responsive, trauma-informed educational programming across multiple platforms for primarily low-to-moderate income households, with emphasis on communities historically underserved by traditional financial systems. Topics may include financial literacy, home buying, sustainable homeownership, rehabilitation/construction processes, estate planning, wealth preservation, and special initiatives. Oversee and manage existing education content to ensure education material, such as presentations, education materials, and resource guides are updated and relevant. Deliver direct instruction and manage internal and external educational initiatives in collaboration with community partners and stakeholders. Assist in coordinating Homeownership Department educational events and represent NHS at community Events in various parts of the City of Chicago or Cook County, including occasional evenings and weekends. Collaborate with Homeownership, Community Engagement, Construction Services, Lending, and other internal teams to identify client knowledge gaps and develop responsive coursework. Identify and schedule guest speakers and other interactive tools to enhance class content. Establish annual education goals, attendance targets, and participant satisfaction benchmarks. Monitor class registration, attendance conversion, completion rates, and post-program outcomes. Coordinate and manage an agency-wide education calendar. Work with homeownership senior leadership and marketing department to develop and implement a marketing plan for classes and workshops. Support Resource Development efforts by providing program narratives, outcomes data, sponsorship opportunities, and grant support materials related to educational initiatives. Develop, implement, and manage a facilitator training program for counselors and instructors. Maintain, update, and disseminate documentation and performance reports. Represent the organization in educational and community discussions, and education in internal meetings. Partner with IT and appropriate internal staff to build dashboards and track metrics including attendance, engagement, conversion, and program effectiveness through Salesforce, Zoom, and related systems. Design and develop pre-and-post workshop survey questionnaires to gather relevant data. Implement surveys through online platforms such as Zoom using Survey Monkey. Manage and organize survey data, ensuring accuracy, and share survey results internally. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Psychology, Business, Housing, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience considered. Experience HUD Housing Counseling Certification – required. Willingness to obtain HUD Housing Counseling Certification within six (6) months of employment. Minimum three (3) years of experience in adult education, training, workshop facilitation, housing counseling, financial education, or related program delivery. Minimum three (3) years of curriculum development, lesson planning, or training content creation experience across in-person and virtual formats. Experience presenting to diverse adult audiences strongly preferred. Minimum two (2) years of experience with coordinating virtual or in-person education events. Experience with curriculum development or workshop facilitation strongly preferred. Desired Skills Bilingual in (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required. Flexible work schedule, including ability to work some nights and Saturdays across NHS’ Service area which includes all of Cook County and City of Chicago to attend community events and workshops. Ability to communicate with internal and external customers orally and in writing with clarity and good effect. Strong attention to detail and project management discipline. Knowledge of or willingness to identify and learn e-learning platforms to facilitate delivery of curriculum and engagement of class participants strongly preferred. Knowledge of homeownership, mortgage lending, housing counseling, or community development strongly preferred. Valid driver’s license and/or access to safe, reliable vehicle for extensive travel associated with the position. Technology: Proficiency in MS Office; Salesforce, or Oracle database experience. Canva experience is a plus. Duties regularly require verbal communication, use of computers and standard office equipment, and the ability to remain stationary or move throughout office and event locations as needed. Occasional lifting or moving of materials up to 25 pounds may be required. Reasonable accommodations will be provided in accordance with applicable law. WORK ENVIRONMENT This role operates in a professional office environment with periodic work in community settings, training venues, and external event locations. The position may require local travel between office sites and community locations. Noise levels are typically moderate. REMOTE WORK POLICY The Homeownership Department staff work on a 3/2 schedule requiring a minimum of 3 days in-office, in addition to any in-office time as necessary for important meetings, team meetings, audits, site visits by funders, agency events, etc., including twice monthly in-person team meetings. This position may be based out of the Central, Chatham, or West Humboldt Park office, consistent with departmental needs. Occasional travel and work assignments among all three office locations may be required.
