Estimating Assistant/ Quantity Takeoff Specialist

JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a highly analytical and methodical Estimating Assistant to support our estimating team in quantity takeoffs, cost planning and tender preparation. This remote role is suitable for candidates with a strong construction background who are experienced in interpreting drawings and calculating material and labor quantities across building trades.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural and structural drawings for all building trades (e.g., concrete, framing, finishes).
• Assist in preparing and updating Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Enter quantities and rates into estimating templates or software (e.g., Cubit, CostX, Excel).
• Request, organize and compare supplier/ subcontractor quotes.
• Format and compile tender submissions with required breakdowns and inclusions/ exclusions.
• Track drawing revisions and update estimates accordingly.
• Collaborate with the senior estimator/ project manager to ensure estimate accuracy.
  
  

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in estimating or quantity takeoff
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; exposure to Cubit, CostX or Bluebeam is highly advantageous
• ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans confidently
• Detail-focused, numerically accurate and well-organized
• Strong English reading/ writing for interpreting drawings and preparing documentation
• Familiarity with Rawlinsons or other Australian cost references is a plus
