Overview The Communications Intern will help advance and enhance Joint Commission’s vision, initiatives, programs and reputation through internal and external communications support. Responsibilities include writing for a variety of channels and formats, communications planning assistance, and program implementation. The role also will help communicate and advance the organization’s strategic plan to internal stakeholders. This paid internship is a full-time internship (40 hours per week), including two days per week in the office (Monday and Wednesday), located in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Support the development and execution of internal and external communications across Joint Commission enterprise, including drafting press materials, articles, and digital content Assist with media relations activities, including building and maintaining targeted media lists, tracking journalist coverage areas, and supporting outreach efforts Monitor and compile social and traditional media coverage, summarizing key insights, trends, and sentiment for the team Draft and schedule content for social media channels, ensuring alignment with organizational messaging and priorities Conduct research to support communications campaigns, announcements, and leadership messaging Track and report on media coverage and social media performance metrics Provide day-to-day support for communications initiatives, campaigns, and special projects as needed Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field required Previous internship experience in the Communications and/or Public Relations industry preferred Equal Opportunity Field We offer a comprehensive benefit package.
