$100,000 annual W2 salary with weekly pay; full health, dental, and vision coverage from day one On-campus role at an Alpha K-8 school in Denver, CO; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Brownsville, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston (Central, South, or The Woodlands), TX; Park City, UT (Salt Lake City metro); or Toronto, Canada (relocation assistance available) This is not a teaching position. This is about motivation. The most meaningful support you can offer a student who achieved 99% of their target is to not accept it as complete. If that principle feels uncomfortable, this role is not for you. If it energizes you—because maintaining high expectations is how you demonstrate belief in a student's capacity—then read on. At Alpha, academic learning happens through AI-driven applications. No traditional lectures. No physical textbooks. Half of your day is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering topics like public speaking, focus, and constructive feedback. The other half involves working with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their progress via Coachbot analytics, and driving each one toward 100% completion of their weekly app objectives. You will not follow a rigid script—workshops provide a foundation, but top performers customize them and create new content when needed. A successful quarter means every student in your group completes their weekly app targets, passes the Test2Pass for all life-skills workshops, and 90%+ report they love working with you. Falling short on any of these three measures means the role's core objectives were not met. In your first year, you'll master the existing framework; as you demonstrate your ability to uphold standards, advancement opportunities open to Lead Guide, where you mentor new team members while continuing direct student engagement. If you prefer traditional classroom instruction, want fully developed curriculum provided to you, or see warmth and rigor as incompatible, this position will not be a fit. If your background includes athletic coaching, camp counseling, tutoring where you refused to let students give up, or performance work that could command the attention of elementary-aged children, the final step before an offer is spending a full day on campus coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you most, submit your application today. What You Will Be Doing Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 groups covering public speaking, focus, feedback, and other enduring competencies, customizing the existing framework and creating new sessions when you identify needs Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching sessions that drive every student to complete 100% of their weekly app objectives, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's motivational systems (campus currency, performance rankings), and your personal connection with each child to overcome reluctance Delivering the Test2Pass (Alpha's competency-based evaluation) for each life skill, and continuing to coach students who do not initially pass until they achieve mastery Adjusting your approach across a broad developmental spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring high-energy, kinesthetic engagement to eighth graders needing direct conversation and personal responsibility Serving as the adult who maintains expectations and the adult students choose to confide in; genuine connection creates the foundation for challenge, and challenge communicates your confidence in their potential What You Won’t Be Doing Delivering instruction at a whiteboard; academic content is housed within the applications, not delivered by you Developing curriculum from the ground up; you animate an established framework with energy and narrative skill Monitoring students passively while they use computers; coaching here is active, individualized, and persistent Reducing a weekly target to enable a student to reach it; when a student falls behind, the solution involves supporting the student, not adjusting the goal Evaluating homework, conducting standardized exam preparation, or handling parent outreach; Campus Leads manage family communication, and the other tasks do not exist in this model Youth Development Specialist Key Responsibilities Guarantee that every student in your K-8 group reaches their weekly learning targets, achieves mastery in each life skill, and finishes the year reporting they loved working with you. Basic Requirements Available to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Denver, CO; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Brownsville, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX (Central, South, or The Woodlands); Park City, UT; or Toronto, Canada (relocation assistance provided) Bachelor's degree in any discipline Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 students (classroom instruction, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program management) A concrete example you can articulate of motivating a K-8 student toward a challenging objective: the objective itself, your actions, and the result Comfort with AI managing instructional delivery while you concentrate on motivation and life-skills development Regular use of generative AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship (or in Canada for the Toronto location) Nice-to-have Requirements Background in youth sports coaching, debate, camp leadership, theater, or after-school programming where you held direct accountability for motivating children toward defined outcomes Demonstrated record of high achievement (academic, athletic, or professional), indicating that maintaining rigorous standards for others reflects consistent practice, not adopted persona Narrative and presentation abilities sufficient to engage a group of 12-year-olds for an hour without needing to elevate your voice History of converting disengaged or resistant students into committed participants About Alpha Want to join a learning rebellion that’s transforming the traditional classroom?
