TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. The university advances knowledge through research and discovery, teaching and learning, community engagement and public service, and with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence. For more information, please visit https://www.tamiu.edu/ . This is a full‑time, non‑tenure‑track, visiting instructional position (9‑month). The position carries a 4/4 teaching load with a primary focus on undergraduate instruction in Art Foundations and Digital Media. This is a one‑year visiting appointment, with duties centered on studio teaching and student engagement. The position requires regular, in‑person instruction and active participation in departmental activities. Primary duties will include teaching undergraduate studio courses including 3D Design (Foundations), Drawing I, and Digital Media courses (Digital Media I and II). The position emphasizes clear instruction, student engagement, and the development of technical and creative skills across foundational and digital studio practices. Courses will include students at introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels. The faculty member will participate in departmental activities and support a collaborative program environment. Duties also include shared support of exhibitions and gallery activities, mentoring and advising students, and participation in service activities that support the Art program, department, and college. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. The College of Arts & Sciences is the largest college at the university. The Department of Fine & Performing Arts includes programs in art, dance, music, and theatre, and is committed to teaching excellence, student success, and community engagement. Required Qualifications The successful candidate must hold an earned MFA in Digital Media, Studio Art, or a closely related field by the start date. College‑level teaching experience required. Demonstrated ability, or clear potential, to teach undergraduate foundational studio courses in 3D design, drawing, and digital media. Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and student engagement is required. We strongly encourage candidates with experience teaching foundational studio courses in 3D design, drawing, and digital media. Experience working with students at multiple skill levels. Ability to contribute to a collaborative program environment and support shared departmental responsibilities.
