About this role
Veterinary Surgeon - development supported
Location: Suffolk
Salary: £38,000 to £75,000
Are you a dedicated veterinarian looking to elevate your career in a supportive, innovative, and beautifully designed environment? Nestled in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, our client offers a unique setting where clinical excellence and a genuinely collaborative culture come together. This is more than just a job; it’s a place where you can truly thrive.
Our client stands out as a privately owned, genuinely independent practice that combines first-opinion and referral services under one roof. This means you’ll have the chance to manage a diverse range of cases, surrounded by advanced expertise and daily opportunities to learn and grow. Imagine working in thoughtfully designed spaces, amidst beautiful surroundings, with a team that genuinely enjoys working together.
This six strong vet team, each with their own specialisations in imaging, emergency care, feline medicine, neurology, and cardiology, offer a supportive working environment. Complementing this is an exceptional referral team, including Advanced Practitioners in ophthalmology, a surgical referral service for complex procedures, a dedicated dermatology service, and advanced imaging support.
What truly sets this practice apart is its open, supportive culture. Fortnightly clinical governance meetings, case and paper reviews, and weekly practice meetings ensure that ideas are shared and everyone is encouraged to contribute. Unique initiatives, highlight how much the team values and recognises each other’s contributions.
Certificates are encouraged and funded, CPD is taken seriously, and there’s a strong focus on building both confidence and capability. With access to advanced facilities like CT, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and a well-equipped in-house laboratory, you’ll have the tools and expertise to take your skills further every day.
This role is ideal for a vet who has completed their VetGDP and is comfortable with general practice. You’ll enjoy a balanced mix of consulting and surgery, with at least one dedicated operating day most weeks. The position is based on a 4-day week with a set day off, a shared 1:6 weekend rota, and a weeknight on-call commitment of 4 nights in every 6 weeks.
You’ll be supported by an experienced nursing team that plays a central role in patient care across both first-opinion and referral services. The nursing team is highly skilled, with multiple Senior RVNs leading areas including anaesthesia, imaging, wards, pharmacy, surgical referrals, and first-opinion theatre work.
Outside of work, you can enjoy the slower pace of countryside life, with nearby villages offering a strong sense of community. Alternatively, you’re within easy reach of local towns, coastal getaways, and destinations like Cambridge, Norwich, and London. The team also enjoys a strong social side, with informal get-togethers, practice events, and even competitive bake-offs and seasonal challenges.
What’s on offer? A salary of £38,000 – £75,000 DOE, 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays, RCVS & VDS fees paid, CPD actively encouraged with certificates supported and funded, company pension, visa sponsorship available, and potential short-term accommodation if relocating.
