As a Veterinary Technician Instructor, you will implement the program curriculum to educate the next generation of veterinary professionals. You will serve as the "Attending Veterinarian" for the campus, providing medical decisions for patients and ensuring the highest standards of care in a learning environment. Standard M-F schedule. Key Responsibilities Clinical & Medical Oversight Attending Veterinarian: Provide all medical decisions for patients within the program and attend all IACUC meetings. Patient Care: Examine patients for medical necessities, review diagnostic testing, perform medical procedures, and communicate abnormalities to rescues. Regulatory & DEA: Maintain the DEA license and controlled substance logs, including monitoring supply levels and expiration dates. Compliance: Ensure medical records are complete and in full compliance with AVMA and USDA standards. Pharmaceuticals: Assist in the requisition of pharmaceuticals necessary for the program. Instructional Excellence Classroom & Lab: Prepare and deliver lectures, practical demonstrations, and daily lesson plans. Competency Tracking: Monitor lab competencies and confirm student skill levels on checklists. Success Rates: Maintain an 80% student success rate for all classes and implement plans to reduce student withdrawals. Administration: Maintain student grades and prepare final grades at the end of each sequence. Professional Mentorship: Monitor students in the classroom to ensure safety and professionalism; coordinate guest speakers and community field trips. Who You Are A Master of the Clinic: You can demonstrate the use of standard veterinary equipment, including anesthesia machines, electronic monitors, and surgical tools. An Inspiring Educator: You enjoy evaluating student performance and making provisions to meet individual learning needs. A Strong Communicator: You possess the verbal and written skills necessary to lead a classroom and coordinate with rescues and staff. Physically Capable: You are able to demonstrate the lifting and restraint techniques required of veterinary nurses. Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited institution with a degree certifying Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). Licensure: Must be a Licensed Veterinarian in Texas (or eligible to obtain) and hold all required designations for the field. Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a DVM in a clinic, hospital, or shelter environment. Technical Skills: Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets); experience with visual computer presentations is preferred. #ID1
