In connection with the expansion of the Montevideo Regional Office and the strong business growth in Latin America, Trafigura is looking for a Vegoil Operator based in Montevideo, Uruguay. Main Purpose We are seeking a motivated, experienced, and ambitious Vegoil Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have foundational knowledge of the vegetable oil market with a strong command of established market practices, relevant trade rules and regulations, and solid contract knowledge. This role will involve supporting the trading team in executing physical and paper trades, and is essential to Vegoils operations in the Americas. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in vegetable oil execution. Strong knowledge of FOSFA/ANEC contracts, Incoterms, and LC terms. Proficiency in trade capture and operations management systems. Experience with the Covantis platform is an advantage. Fluent English (written and spoken). Strong communication skills. Key Responsibilities Execute and manage physical vegetable oil trades to and from the Americas, including vessel nomination, coordination of loading and discharge operations, and issuance and review of shipping documents. Execute paper contracts relating to Argentine and Brazilian origins in accordance with applicable trade terms and internal procedures. Serve as the point of contact for inspection companies, port agents, customers, suppliers, and other counterparties. Key Relationships Vegetable oil traders Operations team Deals Desk team Credit team Trade Finance team Department The vegetable oil and feedstocks trading desk is responsible for the buying, selling, and risk management of vegetable oil, a key feedstock in biofuel production. The team conducts market analysis, develops trading strategies, executes trades, and manages relationships with suppliers and customers to optimise profitability and mitigate market risks. Additionally, the desk engages in paper trading of vegetable oil, using financial derivatives to hedge physical positions and speculate on market movements. Leveraging data analytics and technology and data visualisation tools, the desk ensures informed and strategic trading decisions. The Vegoils Operations Coordinator will be an integral part of the team, ensuring physical operations run as smoothly as possible. Reporting Structure Reporting directly to the Head of Operations.
