Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Cooperate Services, the incumbent is responsible for providing a full range of senior administrative services and office management support to the Senior Management Team of the Department's Corporate Services Branch in accordance with Government of Nunavut (GN) acts, regulations, policies, and departmental procedures to ensure a smooth flow of business. The Travel and Administration Officer supports the department's efficient functioning by managing travel arrangements and providing comprehensive administrative services. This role is essential in ensuring that all travel logistics are coordinated effectively, and administrative tasks are handled proficiently, thus enabling the department to focus on its core responsibilities. The coordinator’s role includes senior-level administrative support across several key areas, including financial services, procurement, federal contributions, and human resources. Each area handles sensitive and confidential information, requiring discretion and professionalism. By managing these critical functions, the coordinator ensures that financial transactions, procurement processes, federal funding agreements, and human resources activities are conducted efficiently and securely, supporting the department's operational needs and strategic goals. The key responsibilities for this position includes the following: * Knowledge of standard administrative procedures and practices. * Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting practices, financial procedures, and records management systems. * Effective written and verbal communication skills. * Knowledge and demonstrated skills in word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation programs. * Interpretive/analytical skills are required to evaluate requirements for specific services; provide advice on administrative processes, procedures, and requirements; and organize information for reports. * Problem solving skills with the ability to synthesize large amounts of complex information. * Interpersonal skills. Ability to work under minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities. * Ability to commit to actively upholding and consistently practicing personal diversity inclusion and cultural awareness, as well as safety and sensitivity approaches in the workplace. The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized college diploma in Information Management, Management Studies, Administration, or Business Management, plus two (2) years related experience. Equivalent education and experience will be considered. The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
