Job Description Overview Designs overhead and underground distribution systems, supporting engineers with layouts, calculations, and technical drawings. Prepares key deliverables like single-line diagrams, bills of materials, and cable schedules while ensuring compliance with utility and industry standards. Requires 4–6 years of T&D experience and proficiency in tools like MicroStation and GIS. Your role Develop plan and profile drawings of overhead lines and underground cables for distribution networks in coordination with line engineers Assist design engineers in developing underground cable routing, conduit, and trench layout plans and sections Perform design calculations for conductor and cable sizing, overhead poles, underground cable conduit sizing, and arrangement Prepare pricing estimates using data from the utility material database Assist engineers in preparing power single-line diagrams, relay and metering one-line diagrams, and communication architectural block diagrams Prepare bills of materials and cable schedules Work closely with peers and multidisciplinary designers to ensure accurate deliverables that meet utility standards, industry standards, and engineering best practices Maintain strong working relationships with internal support teams About you Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized institution 1-3 years of experience as a designer in transmission and distribution Experience with Toronto Hydro or other distribution utility CADD standards (required) Experience with software such as SpidaCalc and Cable Pull Planner (asset) Good knowledge of North American standards such as IEEE and ANSI Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation, GNET or similar GIS software, ProjectWise, and SAP (required) AutoCAD proficiency (asset) Strong written and verbal communication skills Rewards & benefits Explore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive – at every stage of your life and your career.
