Working with a multi-disciplinary team of Geoscientists, Engineers, field staff and other company professionals, you will learn to use proven subsurface engineering methods in an environment that encourages innovative ideas to be tried and tested. The thermal business area competes strongly for development, re-development and strategic workovers and is set to remain a high impact, high activity area for the organization. * Job location: Calgary, Alberta * Shift schedule: 5 x 2, 8-hour shifts * Safety sensitive position: Yes * Application deadline: May 19, 2026 Key Accountabilities: * Work directly with a multi-disciplined team to bring projects forward from concept to an on-stream state to maximize the value of the asset * Monitor and optimize reservoir performance and recovery strategies for Canadian Natural assets * Evaluate, recommend, plan and execute on well completions * Provide effective regular project updates and technical evaluation reports for senior management * Integrate current well and formation integrity practices into our development programs * Incorporate relevant regulatory and environmental requirements for asset development plans What You Bring to the Role: * Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Energy or Petroleum Engineering is preferred * 4 to 15 years of engineering experience; with APEGA registration as a P.Eng. * Experience operating or developing thermal SAGD, CSS or steamflood pads is considered an asset * Demonstrated problem solving, communication, organization and leadership skills * A collaborative approach, with drive, and an eagerness to learn * Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and enthusiastic about data analytics & visualization; any experience with software, such as Tableau, Power BI, Python, and Excel VBA would be beneficial * Knowledge of related disciplines would be an asset: * Artificial lift systems (e.g. rod pumps, gas lift and ESP systems) * Subsurface wellbore / liner design * Drilling, completions and facilities engineering * Thermodynamics and fluid dynamics * Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent What We Offer: * Competitive salary, stock options, company matched stock savings plan, annual bonuses * May be eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Relocation Policy * 100% Employer paid extended Health, Dental and Vision Benefits * Health & Wellness Spending Account * Multiple volunteer opportunities within the community * Employee & Family Assistance Program * Access to online learning platforms for continuous learning and development * Paid vacation and time off during Christmas week and summer Fridays Check out our COMPENSATION & BENEFITS [https://www.cnrl.com/content/uploads/2024/03/Compensation-and-Benefits-Experienced.pdf] to learn more about what we have to offer!
