Job Description RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in healthcare recruitment for domestic and overseas candidates across hospitals, nursing homes, home care, and community care. We are urgently seeking a Staff Nurse – Pre-Assessment Clinic for our hospital in Cork, Ireland. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments, including medical history, medication review, allergies, and functional status. Organise and coordinate required diagnostic investigations, reviewing results in collaboration with the medical team. Identify clinical risks or abnormalities and escalate concerns appropriately to the Anaesthetist or relevant Consultant. Provide patients with clear pre-operative information, including fasting instructions and post-operative care guidance. Accurately document all assessments and maintain patient records in accordance with hospital policies and NMBI standards. Liaise effectively with Anaesthetists, Surgeons, Endoscopy teams, GPs, and other healthcare professionals to optimise patient care. Support surgical list coordination and contribute to the efficient scheduling of patients. Practice within the NMBI Scope of Practice and adhere to hospital policies, protocols, national guidelines, and infection prevention and control standards. Participate in the reporting, investigation, and review of clinical incidents, quality assurance programmes, and clinical audits. Engage in continuing professional development, mandatory training, and the supervision and mentoring of junior staff, maintaining a professional development portfolio. Requirements Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). Previous experience in coordinating a pre-assessment clinic is desirable. Competent in venepuncture (essential). A minimum of three years’ post-registration acute surgical nursing experience is required. Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality of care. Strong knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and clinical skills. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
