Golang Backend Developer

Balanz Energy is building software for one of the biggest challenges in the Dutch energy market.

As renewable energy production continues to grow, the grid becomes increasingly difficult to balance. Balanz Energy helps renewable energy providers and solar field operators optimize their assets in real time through forecasting, automated trading logic, and asset level optimization.

You will join a small engineering team building systems that directly influence automated trading, forecasting quality, scalability, and real time decision making.

The role

You will work on backend systems that process real time market data, weather forecasting data, asset information, and trading logic. The work combines distributed systems, event driven architecture, automation, and large scale data processing.

Balanz Energy recently went live in the Dutch market and is growing rapidly. The company combines software engineering, forecasting, and trading logic to help renewable energy assets perform more efficiently and profitably.

The engineering team is intentionally small and highly product focused. By the end of the year, the development team will likely consist of around five engineers.

Engineering philosophy

The company intentionally keeps engineering teams small, highly capable, and deeply product focused. By the end of the year, the development team will consist of approximately five engineers. AI-assisted coding is not optional. It is fully embedded into the engineering workflow.

The team actively uses coding agents and AI tooling to accelerate development, automate repetitive work, and increase delivery speed.

It means understanding architectural tradeoffs, validating implementations, making technical decisions, maintaining software quality, and knowing when engineering judgement matters more than generation speed.

What are we looking for

We are looking for engineers who enjoy ownership, scalable backend systems, and solving technical problems with direct market impact.

The ideal candidate likes building products, thinking pragmatically, and working closely together with both engineering and business stakeholders. Experience with trading systems, fintech, energy platforms, IoT, machine learning infrastructure, distributed systems, or other data intensive environments is considered beneficial.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering experience

• Solid experience with Golang

• Understanding of concurrency and asynchronous processing

• Experience with scalable backend systems

• Comfortable with architectural decision making
