ASTRON is hiring a Software developer data processing pipelines Unleash your potential You will become part of a team responsible for developing and maintaining the data processing pipelines for the International LOFAR telescope. Our pipelines are operational software processing petabytes of data, which means they must be scientifically correct, reliable and extremely efficient. We’re looking for an experienced software developer to strengthen the team. You will improve and extend pipelines, by implementing new functionality, enhancing code quality and ensuring software reliability. The pipelines are written in Python and C++, as well as the Common Workflow Language. You will work together closely with our high-performance computing (HPC) team and make use of expertise in the radio astronomical community around the LOFAR telescope. The position provides ample opportunity to deepen and hone your software development skills and, ultimately, take ownership of one or more scientific pipelines. Why should you choose ASTRON? A temporary appointment of two years in the service of the Netherlands Foundation of Scientific Research Institutes (NWO-I). Depending on financial resources, the contract may be extended hereafter for another year. A gross monthly salary in the range of €3.630 to €5.758 (full-time salary), based on relevant experience, an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.33% year-end bonus. 42 vacation days per year on a full-time basis.
