This role involves multimodal, community, and environmental planning within a multi-disciplinary team of planners, engineers, and designers. Projects may include transportation planning, land use, urban design, environmental review, and data-driven analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with strong planning expertise who is also looking to grow their leadership capabilities. Responsibilities Lead and contribute to projects including feasibility studies, corridor studies, multimodal and complete streets plans, trail and greenway plans, master plans, grant applications, and environmental/technical reports. Prepare and manage SEQR documentation such as Environmental Assessment Forms (EAFs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS). Manage project tasks, schedules, and deliverables while coordinating with staff, subconsultants, and stakeholders. Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to demographics, land use, travel behavior, system performance, funding, environmental conditions, and socio-economic trends using GIS and planning models. Prepare and deliver planning documents and presentations to clients, stakeholders, and the public. Lead and support community engagement efforts, including public meetings and outreach activities. Serve as a key client contact, ensuring high-quality outcomes and strong relationships. Mentor junior staff and contribute to professional development. Participate in occasional field reviews and data collection. Contribute to proposals, scopes of work, and interviews. Required Skills Strong technical writing, verbal communication, and time management skills. Proven experience leading planning projects and supervising teams or tasks. Ability to interpret and apply planning principles across multiple project types. Preferred Skills Proficiency in GIS tools such as ArcGIS for mapping and spatial analysis. Experience preparing NEPA/EIS documentation and technical studies. Active involvement in professional organizations such as APA or ITE. Master’s degree in planning, geography, environmental sciences, public policy, law, or a related field. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in urban/regional planning, transportation planning, geography, environmental planning, public policy, landscape architecture, engineering, or economics (required). AICP certification, or ability to obtain within one year (required).
