Company: Qualcomm Middle East Information Technology Company LLC Job Area: Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Systems Engineering General Summary: About the role Qualcomm is growing its presence in Riyadh and is hiring Data Centre Engineers to support our expanding infrastructure across the region. As Saudi Arabia accelerates its digital transformation under Vision 2030, Qualcomm is investing in world‑class computing and data centre capabilities to power AI, cloud, and advanced connectivity at scale. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast‑growing technology hub, supporting critical environments and helping shape the future of data centre operations in the Kingdom and beyond. Qualcomm is seeking a Senior Staff / Principal Software Architect to own and drive the system‑level architecture for datacenter AI platforms built on Qualcomm AI accelerators. This role is responsible for shaping end‑to‑end platform direction spanning AI hardware, system software, inference frameworks, orchestration, deployment, and lifecycle operations across multiple customers and deployments. At this level, the architect serves as a company‑level technical authority for datacenter AI solutions—defining reference architectures, resolving cross‑portfolio trade‑offs, and ensuring architectural coherence across teams, products, and partners. The role balances deep technical expertise with broad architectural influence, operating on a scale in real production environments. Principal‑Level Responsibilities Platform & Architecture Ownership Own the long‑term system architecture for Qualcomm datacenter AI inference platforms across hardware, system software, frameworks, and deployment environments. Define and maintain reference architectures, architectural guardrails, and platform standards used across multiple engineering teams and customer programs. Make and defend architectural tradeoffs involving performance, power efficiency, scalability, reliability, security, and operability. Serve as the final technical escalation point for complex system‑level architectural decisions. AI Inference & Hardware/Software Co‑Design Architect scalable AI inference platforms supporting Generative AI, LLMs, multimodal, and hybrid AI workloads. Drive strategy for model optimization, batching, scheduling, memory management, and inference serving aligned with target hardware capabilities. Influence hardware/software co‑design by translating production workload behavior, benchmarking data, and customer constraints into platform requirements. Guide architectural alignment between AI frameworks, compilers, runtime stacks, and system software. Production‑Scale Systems & Operability Ensure architectures are designed for real‑world production deployment, not prototypes—covering lifecycle management, upgrades, rollback, and fleet operations. Define architectural patterns for observability, telemetry, logging, and diagnostics across AI pipelines and inference services. Lead cross‑stack root‑cause investigations spanning model behavior, frameworks, system software, drivers, and hardware. Set expectations and best practices for SLA‑aware, multi‑tenant, and high‑availability AI systems. Technical Leadership & Influence Act as a technical authority across organizations, influencing roadmaps and decisions without direct managerial control. Mentor Senior and Staff engineers on system design, architectural thinking, and trade‑off analysis. Partner with product management, customer engineering, and leadership to align technical architecture with business and customer outcomes. Represent Qualcomm in deep technical discussions with strategic customers, partners, and ecosystem vendors. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience OR PhD with 8+ years of experience. Proven experience owning system‑level or platform‑level architecture for complex, production‑grade software systems. Strong proficiency in Python and experience with system‑level software and APIs. Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalable platforms, and fault‑tolerant architectures. Demonstrated ability to influence architectural decisions across teams, orgs, and product lines. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a relevant technical discipline. Hands‑on experience designing and deploying large‑scale AI/ML inference systems in production. Strong understanding of Generative AI architectures (LLMs, diffusion, multimodal systems). Expertise in AI inference performance optimization on heterogeneous hardware. Experience with MLOps, DevOps, GitOps, containerized platforms, and Kubernetes‑based systems. Familiarity with cluster schedulers, workload orchestration, and rack or fleet‑scale automation. Experience operating effectively in large, matrixed, globally distributed organizations. Principal‑Level Expectations Owns architectural consistency and long‑term technical strategy across multiple platforms Acts as a technical authority and escalation point for system‑level issues Drives impact through architecture, mentorship, and influence, not headcount Balances innovation with scale, reliability, and customer operability What's on Offer Apart from working with great people, we offer the below: Salary including housing & transport allowance Stock (RSU's) and performance related bonus 16 weeks fully paid Maternity Leave 6 weeks fully paid Paternity Leave Employee stock purchase scheme Child Education Allowance Relocation and immigration support (if needed) Life and Medical Insurance Live+ Well Reimbursement for health and recreational membership fees Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
