We are supporting a globally recognised FMCG organisation in the search for a Senior HSE Specialist to join their production site in Joure, Netherlands.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping the safety culture of a large, international business while contributing to sustainability and operational excellence.

The Role

As Senior HSE Specialist, you will act as the site subject matter expert across health, safety and environmental topics. You will ensure compliance with applicable regulations while actively driving a proactive and engaged safety culture across the organisation.

Working closely with internal stakeholders and external authorities, you will design and implement HSE strategies, conduct risk assessments, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

You will report directly to the QHSE Manager and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain HSE policies in line with legislation and best practice
• Conduct risk assessments and site inspections, identifying and mitigating potential hazards
• Lead incident investigations and drive corrective and preventive actions
• Promote safety awareness through training and coaching of employees and leadership
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders such as local authorities and regulatory bodies
• Contribute to environmental and sustainability initiatives, including reduction of the site's carbon footprint

About You

• Bachelor’s degree level (or equivalent) with a qualification in Higher Safety (HVK) or NEBOSH IGC preferred
• Experience in a similar HSE role, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and methodologies such as risk assessments and root cause analysis
• Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
• Fluent in English; Dutch language skills are beneficial but not required
