As a leading international producer of high-quality metallurgical coal, our Curragh Complex in the Bowen Basin plays a critical role in delivering steelmaking coal to global markets.We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer – Truck & Shovel to join our Technical Services team at Curragh North. This is a key operational planning role responsible for delivering practical and executable mine designs, schedules and fleet plans that support safe, productive and efficient mining outcomes. About the Role Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this role works closely with Operations, Drill & Blast, Medium Term Planning, Survey, Geology, Geotechnical and Maintenance teams to develop and optimise truck and shovel fleet plans across the operation. The role is highly operationally focused and will suit someone who enjoys working closely with production teams and influencing short-term mining outcomes. Key responsibilities include: Ensuring a 16-week design, reserve and stage plans are in place to support the delivery of the mine schedules and operational requirements without any major deviation from the mid-term and Budget strategies. Directly involved in doing design optimisation, planning and scheduling and setting the right expectations for the engineers to deliver to the same expectations and beyond. Actively involved in the mine planning & scheduling process to ensure short term designs/plans supports the delivery of the required quality and quantity of coal to the ROM to meet coal flow requirements per the monthly/quarterly approved plans. Ensuring compliance with mine planning standards and design processes Completing reconciliations and monitoring strip progression performance Working closely with Geotechnical Engineers to ensure safe pit wall and mining designs Providing leadership and technical guidance within the Truck & Shovel planning team Supporting reporting, cost management and continuous improvement initiatives About You To be successful in this role, you will bring: Open Cut Coal Mining experience with some exposure in a Dragline, Design, Scheduling, Drill & Blast, Dozer & Truck/Shovel planning and design functions. Experience in the delivery of cost efficient mine design, planning capability and scheduling environment. Ability to work well with all the different stakeholders in the business to deliver the Curragh Vision. Aptitude to negotiate and influence others to drive safe, quality and cost-effective production outcomes. Working knowledge of mining software programs such as Vulcan, Deswik, 3D Dig, Blast Logic, Spry (or similar); A Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
