About this role
A rapidly growing engineering company is commercialising a patented mineral processing technology that is being deployed at mine sites globally.
As the business continues to scale, they are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the project execution team, providing technical leadership across mechanical design, structural systems, slurry handling equipment, and field deployment activities.
The Opportunity
This role sits at the intersection of engineering design and project execution.
You will be responsible for ensuring systems developed by the R&D team can be successfully engineered, fabricated, installed, and operated in demanding industrial environments. Working closely with process, electrical, and mechanical engineers, you will help translate innovative concepts into robust, field-ready systems.
The technology incorporates pumps, piping, tanks, valves, steel support structures, and proprietary process equipment operating in abrasive slurry environments.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead mechanical engineering activities for commercial system deployments
- Review and develop mechanical and structural designs for process equipment, piping systems, pump skids, tanks, and supporting infrastructure
- Perform mechanical calculations, equipment sizing, and design reviews
- Ensure systems are practical, maintainable, and suitable for field installation
- Work closely with EPC partners, fabricators, and suppliers throughout project execution
- Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and ongoing system improvements
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers
- Bridge the gap between R&D concepts and executable engineering solutions
- Support the development of internal engineering standards, procedures, and best practices
What We're Looking For
Candidates should possess a strong background in mechanical engineering within heavy industrial, mining, minerals processing, oil & gas, chemical processing, EPC, or related industries.
Experience should include:
- Slurry systems, pumps, piping, tanks, or process equipment
- Mechanical and structural design for industrial facilities
- EPC, project execution, or plant engineering environments
- Design reviews, equipment specification, and vendor coordination
- Field installation, commissioning, or operational support
- Mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership
Professional Engineer (PE) registration is strongly preferred, particularly for candidates with experience reviewing or approving structural and mechanical designs.
Why This Role is Different
This is a rare opportunity to join a growing business that is bringing a new process technology to market while building its internal engineering capability.
Rather than working on a small portion of a large project, you will have direct visibility across the full project lifecycle—from engineering and fabrication through installation, commissioning, and operational performance
The role offers significant influence, long-term leadership potential, and the opportunity to help shape how a rapidly growing engineering company executes projects globally.
The position can be based in Casper, Wyoming or Denver, Colorado, with flexibility for the right candidate. Relocation assistance is available where required.
