Senior Backend Engineer (Generalist) New York City (Hybrid – 4 days onsite) $220K–$275K Base + Equity + Annual Trading Profit-Sharing Bonus Decentralized Finance (DeFi) / Backend Infrastructure Seeking a senior-to-staff-level Backend Engineer to build and scale high-performance backend systems within a fast-paced infrastructure-focused engineering environment. This role is ideal for engineers with exceptional CS fundamentals, strong system design expertise, and experience architecting scalable backend platforms end-to-end. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain backend infrastructure and distributed systems Architect scalable, reliable, high-performance systems Lead complex engineering initiatives independently Collaborate closely with technical leadership Operate effectively in fast-changing startup environments Required Skills & Experience 7+ years of production software engineering experience Strong computer science fundamentals and system design expertise Experience with one or more of: Rust, C++, C, Golang, Python, TypeScript Proven experience leading backend/system projects independently Strong ownership mindset and stable career progression Ideal Backgrounds Engineers from top-tier technology companies, quantitative trading firms, crypto infrastructure companies, or high-performing startups. Preferred Education Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or related technical fields preferred.
