Job Description Overview AtkinsRéalis is looking for a Resident Electrical Engineer to be based in Abu Dhabi. To supervise, monitor, and control all electrical construction and installation works on TAQA projects, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, TAQA standards, contract requirements, safety regulations, and quality procedures. Your role Technical & Site Supervision Supervise electrical works including HV/MV/LV systems, substations, switchgear, transformers, protection & control, cabling, earthing, lighting, and power distribution in accordance with TAQA standards. Ensure execution of works strictly as per approved shop drawings, method statements, ITPs, and project specifications. Review and approve electrical Technical submittal, material submittals, technical datasheets, and MOS. Coordinate electrical works with civil, mechanical, SCADA, and other disciplines. Identify design or site issues and recommend corrective actions. Quality Assurance & Control Monitor contractor’s quality control activities and ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures. Participate in inspections, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of electrical systems. Witness FAT, SAT, cable megger tests, relay testing, protection settings, and energization activities. Verify as-built drawings, test reports, operation manuals, and handover documents. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Enforce TAQA and project HSE policies, procedures, and work permits. Ensure contractors comply with lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), electrical safety, and energized work controls. Report and follow up on safety violations and near-miss incidents. Site Administration Monitor progress of electrical works against the approved program. Review contractor’s site instructions, RFI responses, and non-conformance reports (NCRs). Assist in evaluation of variations, claims, and technical justifications. Review daily, weekly, and monthly site progress reports. Coordination & Communication Liaise with TAQA representatives, contractors, subcontractors and 3rd party ADNOC Team. Attend site meetings and technical coordination meetings. Provide technical support during inspections by authorities and utility representatives. About you Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Professional Engineer certification or equivalent is an advantage. If any previous TAQA approval will be supportive 10–15 years of experience in electrical engineering supervision. Proven experience on TAQA, ADDC, TRANSCO, DEWA, or major utility power projects. Strong background in EHV/HV substations, transmission & distribution networks, or power plants. Strong knowledge of TAQA standards, IEC, IEEE, BS, and NEC codes. Experience with switchgear, transformers, protection relays, SCADA, and power cabling. Excellent inspection, reporting, and documentation skills. Ability to manage contractors and work under tight schedules. Strong communication and coordination skills.
