Power Electronics & AI Engineer

Location: On-site, 5 days per week

Salary: Up to £65,000

A global engineering and technology organisation at the forefront of electrification and advanced transportation systems is seeking a Power Electronics & AI Engineer to join its growing engineering team.


This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of power electronics, simulation, optimisation and artificial intelligence, helping to develop next-generation converter systems and intelligent power solutions. The organisation is open to candidates from both industry and academic backgrounds, making this an excellent opportunity for a PhD graduate, Research Engineer or Power Electronics specialist looking to apply cutting-edge research in a commercial environment.


The Role


The successful candidate will contribute to the design, simulation and optimisation of advanced power electronics converter systems. Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, they will support the full development lifecycle from concept through to testing and validation.

Key responsibilities will include:


• Designing and optimising power electronics converter systems

• Developing simulation models and performance optimisation strategies

• Defining technical specifications and system interfaces

• Supporting component selection, sourcing and evaluation

• Contributing to system integration and validation activities

• Supporting testing, troubleshooting and performance analysis

• Applying artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to improve system performance and optimisation

• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on technology development initiatives

• Supporting technical research, innovation and knowledge sharing across engineering teams


About You

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in power electronics together with an interest or background in artificial intelligence, machine learning or optimisation techniques.


Candidates are likely to possess:


• A degree, MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Electronic Engineering, Control Systems, Artificial Intelligence or a related discipline

• Experience designing, modelling or analysing power electronics systems

• Knowledge of converters, inverters, motor drives or power conversion technologies

• Experience using simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, PLECS, PSIM or similar

• Understanding of control systems and optimisation techniques

• Exposure to artificial intelligence, machine learning or data-driven modelling approaches

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
