Job Description Position Title: IBDP / IGCSE Music Teacher Location: Sarjapur, Bangalore Accomodation and food will be provided About the School We are an international school offering both the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum. Our Performing Arts department plays a central role in fostering students’ artistic expression, confidence, and collaboration through diverse musical traditions and innovative pedagogy. Role Purpose The IBDP / IGCSE Music Teacher will be responsible for teaching music across both IB and Cambridge programmes, guiding students in performance, composition, and musical analysis. The teacher will inspire a love for music, encourage creativity, and contribute to the cultural life of the school through concerts, ensembles, and co-curricular activities. Key Responsibilities Teaching & Learning Plan and deliver engaging music lessons aligned with IBDP and IGCSE curriculum requirements. Teach components of IBDP Music (Analysis, Performance, and Composition) and IGCSE Music (Listening, Performing, Composing) . Foster students’ appreciation for diverse musical genres, styles, and cultures. Support individual and group performance development. Prepare students for internal and external assessments. Differentiate instruction to meet the varied learning needs and abilities of students. Integrate technology and digital tools for music creation and analysis. Curriculum and Assessment Design units of work consistent with IB and Cambridge frameworks. Assess and provide constructive feedback on student progress. Maintain accurate records of assessment, attendance, and performance. Guide students through IBDP internal assessments and recitals. Contribute to curriculum review and improvement. Performance and Co-Curricular Activities Direct and organize school concerts, ensembles, and musical productions. Encourage student participation in choirs, bands, and solo performances. Collaborate with the Performing Arts team on interdisciplinary projects. Support school events through musical performances and assemblies. Professional Development & Collaboration Participate in departmental planning, meetings, and professional development workshops. Stay updated with current music education methodologies and global trends. Collaborate with colleagues to develop creative, cross-curricular learning experiences. Uphold the school’s vision and values in all aspects of teaching and community engagement. Qualifications and Experience Essential Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field. Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience in Music at secondary or senior secondary level. Experience teaching IBDP Music and/or Cambridge IGCSE Music . Proficiency in at least one musical instrument and strong performance skills. Ability to teach music theory, composition, and music technology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to fostering creativity and student growth. Desirable Certification in IB Music Category 1/2 training or Cambridge PDQ. Experience directing school ensembles, choirs, or orchestras. Knowledge of music software such as Sibelius, GarageBand, Logic Pro, or similar. Background in Western, Indian, or world music traditions. Experience working in an international school environment.
