About this role

A new campus located in the heart of Gubei area and only 15 minutes to downtown by subway in a Safe environment and dynamic international community with a Variety of after school clubs, active school committees, and a summer program Reports to: Elementary & Middle School Principal Role: To successfully support student learning of the English Language especially Reading through observations, co-teaching, conferencing, research, and reflective practice; to empower teachers in supporting Reading among the English as an Additional Language (EAL) population, and directly instruct EAL students from Kindergarten through Grade 8. Responsibilities: ●Actively support the school’s mission, vision, and values, and curriculum ●Involve teachers in a collaborative dialogue about Reading ●Directly support the overarching goals of the EAL program K-8 ●Be knowledgeable and share about quality Reading assessment and instruction ●Support Reading assessments and help teachers learn to administer them, interpret data, and design instruction based on data ●Assist in student intervention efforts ●Lead groups in examination of student work to determine strengths and weaknesses ●Provide direct reading instruction to students in both push-in and pull-out models ●Use reading to support larger writing, listening, and speaking objectives. ●Co-chair the Literacy Committee, and participate in the revision of the school’s Language Policy ●Support school events such as Literacy Week and Literacy Night ●Follow policies and procedures outlined in the school's handbooks Disclaimer: This job description is intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in the class. Required skills or credentials Knowledge ●Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and the needs of students ●Demonstrated knowledge of literacy instruction, particularly early childhood and elementary levels ●Demonstrated leadership skills Experience ●At least two years teaching experience in early childhood or elementary school programs ●PYP teaching, and EAL programming experience preferred Education/Certification ●Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Education ●Teaching certification from an accredited institution ●Literacy Coach or Reading Specialist degree preferred - 2 years of teaching experience Must be Native English Speaker If not Native English Speaker, must have attended a university in USA, UK, Candida, or Australia
