Telespazio Belgium has an on‑site service at ESTEC in the Netherlands, and we are looking for a highly skilled Quantum Communications Mission Support Engineer to work there. The European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI) is a strategic initiative aimed at establishing a secure end-to-end quantum communication network across the European Union. Apart from activities relating to interface definition, common requirements, and supporting the integration into the overall EuroQCI system, the activities do not address national QCI infrastructures. The EuroQCI system and the related services will be developed and deployed gradually, in two main phases: (i) a preliminary validation phase, which may involve the development and validation of several different technologies and communication protocols (hereafter the “EuroQCI 1st Generation”); and (ii) a second phase covering full deployment of an operational infrastructure providing the expected capacity and service (up to SECRET UE/EU SECRET) (hereafter “the EuroQCI 2nd Generation”) including appropriate solutions for inter-satellite connectivity and data relay between satellites, the ground, and the national infrastructure. The Commission has entrusted ESA with the implementation of the EuroQCI system. To this end, ESA is the contracting, design and qualification authority for the EuroQCI system, and has been entrusted with the following tasks: • defining the implementation and deployment plans for the EuroQCI system; • defining the EuroQCI requirements, design trade-offs and specifications, as well as system interfaces; • developing and implementing the EuroQCI system elements; • deploying the EuroQCI system elements in its operational environment; • executing the overall qualification campaigns for the EuroQCI system; • validating the EuroQCI system services.
