Join our client as a Senior Engineer in Medium Voltage Power Conversion Systems (m/f/d)
This is a key role in designing and developing power converters and control systems for applications such as photovoltaic (PV) systems, data centers and critical power (DCCP), electric vehicles (EV), and board-mounted power supplies (BMP), covering power ranges from several watts to megawatts. The main challenges include achieving high efficiency, high power density, cost-effectiveness, and ultra-low standby power consumption.
Tasks and challenges
• Next-Generation Medium-Voltage Architectures:
Research next-generation medium-voltage architectures for applications such as AI data centers, high-power photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage systems, and EV charging infrastructure. This includes technology trend analysis, industry evolution insights, and forward-looking technology planning.
• Medium-Voltage Power Converter R&D:
Drive the development and deployment of advanced medium-voltage power conversion technologies, with a focus on solid-state transformers (SST) for AI data centers and EV charging, as well as medium-voltage direct integration solutions for PV and energy storage systems. Research areas include MV converter topologies, modulation and control algorithms for MV power conversion systems, medium-frequency transformer (MFT) design, and multi-domain co-simulation covering electrical, magnetic, thermal, and reliability aspects.
Skills sought:
• PhD or Master’s degree in power electronics, electrical/electronic engineering, or a related discipline.
• Several years of proven experience in medium-voltage and high-power electronics, including product design or prototype development in an industrial environment.
• Deep expertise in MV power electronic converter topologies, modulation and control strategies for MV systems, medium-frequency transformer design, and multi-physics co-design and simulation (electrical, magnetic, thermal, and reliability).
• Good knowledge of medium-voltage standards; practical experience in insulation coordination is an advantage.
