The Role As the Nurse Manager II for our client's Labor & Delivery unit, you will lead the implementation of best-practice patient care models and clinical delivery systems. This role is vital to their 24/7 operational environment, requiring a leader who can navigate complex workstreams, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure the highest standards of safety and quality for mothers and newborns. You will be responsible for overseeing high-volume operations, managing clinical supervision, and ensuring full compliance with the Nursing Practice Act and Joint Commission standards. Key Responsibilities Operational Excellence: Manage care delivery operations within a high-volume L&D environment (400+ monthly deliveries) to ensure appropriate resource utilization and patient safety. Strategic Leadership: Translate business plans into tactical actions, overseeing hospital administrative functions including recruitment, performance management, and Labor relations. Quality & Compliance: Drive continuous improvement in clinical practices; manage audit readiness, mock rounds, and regulatory compliance (TJC, Federal, State, and Local). Financial Oversight: Lead the development and control of departmental payroll and non-payroll budgets, focusing on cost control and resource efficiency. Team Development: Hire, train, and mentor talent; strategically evaluate teams for succession planning and foster a collaborative, cross-functional culture. Emergency Preparedness: Design and ensure the currency of emergency preparedness and recovery plans, ensuring all staff are trained for rapid response. Technical Skills & Qualifications Must-Haves: Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in California. Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) or Department Manager specifically in Labor & Delivery . Volume Experience: Proven track record working in a high-delivery L&D setting with 400+ monthly deliveries . Clinical Experience: Total of 5+ years in patient care delivery. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required at hire. Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required. Preferred Qualifications: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is strongly preferred. Specific experience managing Mom/Baby units.
