Reporting to the Chief Public Health Officer, the Manager Cancer Screening Program is responsible for developing and monitoring the implementation of strategies, initiatives and programs. With the guidance of the Clinical Lead, the Manager will apply expertise in project management, cancer screening protocols, health systems development, cancer control, health and wellness promotion, and chronic disease prevention to develop a culturally sensitive, clinically sound cancer screening program, that incorporates Inuit societal values into the overall goal to improve health and cancer outcomes. The Manger, Cancer Screening Programs will also be responsible for: * Designing, planning, coordination and implementation of this program. * Preparing and disseminating information on program outputs and outcome measures, quality and performance metrics, and research of evidence‑based practice. * Effective reporting, monitoring and evaluation of the cancer screening program. * Establishing an effective population‑based cancer screening program that is Nunavut specific and territory wide * Oversee fiscal direction and is accountable to the department and outside funding agencies. * Providing guidance to ensure that health program implementation is focused, coordinated, and has an effective financial management and reporting system. * Collaboration with the Health Operations Division, the Population Health Division, various committees and key stakeholders to develop and coordinate a territorial cancer screening program. The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually acquired through a recognized undergraduate degree in health-related field, preferably in health science, public health or nursing along with three (3) years’ experience developing and managing health programs or a related field. One (1) year supervisory experience is also required. A master’s degree in health-related field is considered as an asset. This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required. The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
