The Lead Critical Environment Cleaner (Lead CEC) is the shift-level leader for a team of 3-8 Critical Environment Cleaners operating across one or more data hall buildings in a hyperscale HPC data center campus. The Lead CEC ensures all cleaning operations meet mission-critical contamination control standards, serves as first responder and incident commander for contamination events, and acts as the primary liaison between the CEC department and Data Center Operations / Facilities Management. Qualified Leads deliver in-house Train-the-Trainer sessions for CEC I and CEC II staff and are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all department documentation and equipment records. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED —Associate's degree or technical certification in Facility Management or EHS preferred Minimum 3 years of experience in controlled-environment or data center cleaning Minimum 1 year in an informal or formal leadership role directing 3+ personnel All CEC II certifications current and on file OSHA 30 General Industry — preferred at hire, required within 6 months of promotion Confined Space Entry — Full Authorized Entrant certification required ANSI/BICSI 002 Contamination Control Specialist (or equivalent)required Train-the-Trainer Prep Module (8hrs, in-house) —requiredwithin30 days of promotion Background and security clearance required PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS HAZMAT/HAZWOPER Awareness (40-hour) —active credential Experience writing or maintaining SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs in a mission-critical environment Leadership or supervisory training (employer-provided, community college, or SHRM equivalent) Experience with vendor coordination and contractor compliance management Bilingual English/Spanish — high value in the West Texas market Shift Leadership & Team Management Serve as on-shift lead for a team of 3-8 CEC I and CEC II staff across assigned data hall zones Assign cleaning tasks, zones, and equipment to team members at shift start Conduct pre-shift safety briefings and post-shift quality control walkthroughs Monitor team performance and provide real-time coaching and corrective guidance Mentor CEC I and CEC II staff on technical skills, SOP compliance, and professional development Complete shift handover documentation accurately before departing site Contamination Event Response Serve as first responder and incident commander for contamination events on shift Triage, contain, and document contamination events per site EOP without disrupting live equipment operations Initiate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documentation and assign corrective actions Lead quarterly contamination event response drills as scenario facilitator Escalate events to Supervisor when scope exceeds shift-level authority Documentation, SOPs & Equipment Maintain accuracy and currency of all cleaning logs, shift records, and materials usage documentation Author and update SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs for cleaning operations as directed by Supervisor Manage calibration records for all HEPA vacuums, anti-static systems, and cleaning equipment Coordinate procurement of cleaning supplies, PPE, and replacement equipment with Supervisor Train-the-Trainer Delivery Deliver in-house TTT training sessions for CEC I and CEC II staff upon completion of 8-hour TTT Prep Module Train new staff on ESD awareness, HEPA/ULPA operation, site safety induction, CPR/AED, and SOP documentation Log all training completions in HRIS within 24 hours of session delivery Assess trainee competency and recommend floor access approval to Supervisor Vendor & Contractor Interface Interface with specialized cleaning vendors, equipment suppliers, and site contractors as required Verify contractor compliance with site safety and contamination control requirements before floor access Coordinate scheduling of vendor services with Supervisor and Data Center Operations team At IREN, we offer a comprehensive, market-competitive total rewards package designed to support employees’ well-being, career advancement, and financial wealth.
