Responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of injury prevention, outreach, and education activities across the four trauma centers in SAHS. Collaborates with the site-based program coordinators, medical directors, and system trauma directors to assess needs and drive projects forward. Plans and oversees trauma education for staff, physicians and community as needed. Utilizes trauma registry data to design, create, and implement initiatives related to regional injury prevention and outreach. Participates in trauma care systems at community, state, or national levels and represents the trauma program on various hospital and community committees. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required, Master’s Degree in applicable field preferred 5 years of work experience as a trauma nurse in ED and/or ICU required 2-3 years of experience in professional adult education, curriculum design, and course development preferred 2-3 years relevant experience in public health utilizing data to drive projects and deliver outcomes preferred Knowledge of EMS systems and experience working with EMS providers preferred. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Works across organization to ensure that site-based verification standards are met as they relate to injury prevention, outreach, and educational requirements. In conjunction with the site-based Trauma Coordinators, develop, create, and maintain data-driven injury prevention projects. In conjunction with the site-based Trauma Coordinators, assess and structure educational activities targeted at site-based needs. In conjunction with the site-based Trauma Coordinators, assess and implement outreach activities within each region targeting referring centers, EMS agencies, and other appropriate community partners. Monitors and tracks project implementation and outcomes of injury prevention, outreach, and education activities at each site. Share outcome and improvement data with site-based trauma program leadership, quality, and administration. In coordination with other clinical professionals, assists with planning and implementing of clinical protocols/practice management guidelines, and serving as a resource for clinical practice. Work closely with Trauma Registry staff to assess data that informs projects related to injury prevention, education, and outreach.. Maintains oversight of a tracking log that shows all injury prevention, education, and outreach activities. This job may require flexibility in schedule to accommodate some activities. Time will be split between four sites and travel to all sites is expected based on site-specific needs. Virtual tools may be appropriate in some scenarios in lieu of travel. Participate in case review and performance improvement meetings to assess need for new initiatives related to injury prevention, education, and outreach. Participate in trauma care systems at community, state, and national level and represents hospital on committees as appropriate. Liaisons for EMS agencies as appropriate. Maintain confidentiality of trauma data.
