A purpose-driven, established organization in the Greater Boston area is entering a period of sustained growth and organizational evolution. Known for its collaborative, values-oriented culture and highly engaged workforce, the organization is focused on strengthening leadership capability, modernizing infrastructure, and building scalable people practices to support future growth.
The Chief People & Culture Officer serves as the organization’s senior-most HR leader and a key member of the leadership team. This individual will partner closely with executive leadership to define and execute a forward-looking people strategy that enhances organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, and employee engagement while preserving cultural integrity.
This is a highly visible role requiring both enterprise-level strategic leadership and active, hands-on engagement across the organization. Internally, the role carries an Executive Director title.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full people function, including talent strategy, organizational development, employee relations, total rewards, HR operations, and workforce planning
- Partner with the executive team on organizational design, succession planning, leadership development, and change management
- Modernize HR processes, systems, and programs to support scale and operational effectiveness
- Serve as a trusted advisor on workforce strategy, organizational effectiveness, and leadership capability
- Build strong relationships across a collaborative, consensus-driven environment
- Lead and develop the HR team to ensure high-quality execution and service delivery
- Drive organization-wide initiatives related to growth, transformation, and performance
- Leverage people analytics and employee insights to inform decision-making
- Ensure compliance, operational rigor, and a high-quality employee experience
Candidate Profile
- 15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including enterprise or multi-site scope
- Demonstrated experience preparing for, participating in, and presenting within Board and executive-level environments, including communicating organizational, talent, succession, and workforce matters with clarity, confidence, credibility, and executive presence
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with operational execution
- Experience supporting growth, transformation, and complex change initiatives
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence across leadership levels
- Experience engaging with Boards and senior stakeholders
- Background in complex, knowledge-based, or highly educated environments preferred
- Strength in organizational and leadership development, with a track record of building scalable people infrastructure
- High judgment, discretion, and interpersonal effectiveness
Compensation
Base salary of $300,000–$350,000, plus variable compensation and comprehensive executive benefits. Compensation will align with experience and scope.
