Discover Capital Area Health Network. Job Summary The Family Physician provides comprehensive primary care services within the community health center. Responsibilities include preventive care, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions, prescribing medications, and coordinating referrals. The physician collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient‑centered, culturally competent care and supports quality improvement initiatives that advance community health and well‑being. Essential Functions The following duties are considered essential functions. Perform physical examinations for new and existing patients and determine necessary diagnostic tests, including x‑rays and laboratory studies. Interpret examination findings and test results; develop and implement treatment plans. Prepare and review case histories and obtain patient information through interviews. Provide continuing, comprehensive health maintenance and medical care to individuals and families, including preventive medicine, behavioral health, and community health services. Participate in surgical, obstetrical, gynecological, and critical care procedures according to training and demonstrated competency. Determine the need for specialty consultation and assist in coordinating care with other providers. Instruct healthcare providers and non‑medical personnel on health‑related topics, including first aid, basic and advanced cardiac life support, and health maintenance. Teach and mentor residents, practitioners, and medical students as applicable. Education & Experience Doctor of Medicine (MD) from an AMA‑accredited institution or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an AOA‑accredited institution. Current Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification (if applicable). Successful completion of an approved residency program in Family Medicine. Valid license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Current DEA registration.
