PharOS is seeking for an EHS Officer as follows:
Role and Responsibilities
⢠Supports the implementation and maintenance of the Health and Safety Management Programme for the manufacturing site, ensuring that it is adequate to prevent occupational illness or injuries at work by:
1. Carrying out routine workplace inspections, housekeeping checks and walk-abouts in all site areas to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and improvement opportunities.
2. Assisting in the identification of hazards, the assessment of risks and the implementation of control measures, as directed by the EHS Manager.
3. Monitoring the correct use and condition of personal protective equipment (PPE), safety equipment and safety signage and reporting any deficiencies.
⢠Assists in the internal EHS audit schedule by preparing checklists, participating in walk-throughs and recording findings and follow-up actions.
⢠Assists in the reporting and investigation of near misses, unsafe conditions and accidents by collecting information, photographs and witness statements, preparing draft reports and following up on the implementation of agreed corrective and preventive actions.
⢠Maintains EHS documentation and records (e.g. risk assessments, permits, inspection forms, training
attendance, incident reports, waste documentation, equipment registers), ensuring that they are complete,
accurate, legible and filed according to company procedures and regulatory requirements.
⢠Supports the assessment of new materials, processes and activities from an EHS perspective by gathering
relevant data and preparing draft assessments for review by the EHS Manager.
⢠Assists in the drafting, review, distribution and implementation of EHS-related Standard Operating Procedures
(SOPs), forms and work instructions, ensuring that current versions are available at points of use and that
obsolete documents are removed.
⢠Supports the review of manufacturing instructions and batch documentation from an EHS point of view,
escalating any concerns or inconsistencies to the EHS Manager.
Experience & Qualification
⢠A first degree or postgraduate degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
⢠Background in a Chemistry discipline will be considered an asset.
⢠At least one (1) year of experience in a similar role preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing and testing plant.
⢠Preferably with experience in Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9.001, 14.001, 45.001).
⢠Problem solving approach, organized & flexible.
⢠Possession of communication, trouble-shooting, and function skills.
⢠Proactive attitude towards work and learning new techniques.
⢠Ability to understand and work towards the company vision and strategy.
