ABOUT THE ROLE As a DevOps Engineer at Creem, you'll own the entire infrastructure, deployment, and operational excellence of our payment processing platform. This is a mission-critical role—our systems handle real financial transactions, and uptime, security, and performance directly impact customer trust and revenue. You'll design and maintain the cloud infrastructure that powers our platform across multiple regions, automate deployment pipelines, ensure security and compliance standards are built into every layer, and establish the operational practices that allow our engineering team to ship confidently and frequently. You'll architect our AWS infrastructure, manage containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes, build robust CI/CD pipelines, implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting, manage database infrastructure and backups, handle disaster recovery and business continuity planning, and ensure PCI-DSS and SOC 2 compliance at the infrastructure level. You'll work closely with our backend engineers to understand their needs, with our security and compliance teams to build secure systems, and with our CEO to make infrastructure and operations decisions that balance scalability, cost, and reliability. In this founder-level position, you'll have the autonomy to make architectural decisions that shape how Creem operates. You'll leverage infrastructure-as-code and automation to build systems that scale elegantly, and work to eliminate toil and manual operations. Your impact will be measured by system reliability, deployment frequency, security posture, and the operational efficiency of our platform. WHAT WE VALUE Infrastructure Expertise: Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred), containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation), and modern DevOps practices. You've built and operated production infrastructure at scale. Security and Compliance Mindset: Understanding of security best practices, compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS, SOC 2), and the ability to design infrastructure that is secure by default. You proactively identify and mitigate risks. Operational Excellence: Commitment to monitoring, observability, and reliability. You design systems that are resilient, maintainable, and operationally efficient. You obsess over reducing toil and enabling teams. Collaboration and Communication: Ability to work closely with engineers, communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, and build systems that your teammates are excited to work with. REQUIREMENTS Cloud Platform Mastery: 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS (or equivalent cloud platform). Proficiency with EC2, RDS, VPC, ECS, EKS, Lambda, and IAM. You've designed and deployed production systems. Container and Orchestration: Strong experience with Docker, container registries, and Kubernetes (or similar orchestration platforms). You've managed containerized workloads in production. Infrastructure-as-Code: Proficiency with Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent IaC tools. You manage infrastructure through code, not console clicks. CI/CD Pipeline Experience: Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar. You understand deployment strategies and release management. Fintech/High-Reliability Systems: Experience with payment systems, financial technology, or other high-availability, mission-critical systems. Understanding of PCI-DSS compliance and security-sensitive infrastructure design. OUR OFFER TO YOU Competitive Compensation: A highly competitive salary package reflecting your expertise and impact. Relocation Support: Comprehensive relocation assistance, visa processing if needed, and first month's rent covered. Equity Ownership: Meaningful equity giving you real skin in the game. Learning & Development: Dedicated budget for courses, conferences, and resources. Flexible Time Off: We trust you to manage your energy and take time when needed. Team Adventures: Regular gatherings in exciting locations to strengthen bonds and share ideas. Direct Impact: Your customer insights will directly influence product decisions. PROCESS At Creem, our hiring process is designed to be thorough yet efficient, giving both you and us the clarity needed to make the right decision. Here's what you can expect: Initial Application Review: We carefully evaluate your submission to understand your background, skills, and alignment with our needs. Introductory Call: A brief conversation with each of our founding team to discuss your experience and our vision for Creem. Team Interaction: You'll meet key team members for in-depth discussions about your expertise and how you might contribute. Paid Work Trial: Our signature 3-day collaborative experience where you'll work alongside the team on real projects in-person (we'll cover expenses). Feedback Session: We'll discuss your work trial experience, share observations, and answer any remaining questions. Reference Check: We'll speak with professional contacts who can provide insights into your working style and capabilities. We make an offer to you joining Creem 🍦
