Collins is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Structural Engineer to play a key role as the Design Group Manager  to lead a team in our Salt Lake City, Utah, office. The ideal candidate will have experience in bridge and transportation design projects. We are looking for a skilled professional who can bring a strong blend of creative design and problem-solving abilities supported by a solid foundation in bridge construction position requires the ability to manage projects, liaise with clients and government agencies, and direct designers. Typical Duties and Responsibilities:  Provides expertise in complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices. Manages engineering projects of varying size and complexity in the field or office in accordance with plans and specifications. Oversees the use of computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents. Maintains active involvement in technical societies. Publishes engineering papers and/or articles. Serves as a senior project manager or senior project engineer on complex projects and as a designated client contact. Assists the Regional Manager in business development efforts. Develops, supervises, and monitors client relationship strategies. Attends meetings or events outside of normal working hours, as required. Oversees specific employees and staff, manages technical training, career growth, and performance. Serves as a coach for engineering and technical staff. Identifies, recruits, and retains qualified technical personnel. Actively promotes and demonstrates appropriate safety practices. Ensures that staff requiring specialized health and safety training receive such training and that safety is emphasized as an integral part of their work. Follows established communication processes and systems to ensure effective communication with staff, clients, and the corporate office. Qualifications Education and/or Experience : Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university. 15 years or more progressive engineering experience, including project management. Maintains competence in and serves as a major resource in the field of expertise. Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Structural Engineer (S.E.) required.
