A leading tertiary-care hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is expanding its Colorectal & Digestive Surgery Program and is seeking a highly skilled Consultant / Specialist Colorectal Surgeon to join its multidisciplinary surgical team. This role focuses on delivering specialised surgical care for colon, rectal, and anorectal conditions, within a technologically advanced environment offering laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgical capabilities. The hospital provides a comprehensive digestive disease service line, integrating gastroenterology, oncology, radiology, and surgical specialties to ensure optimal patient outcomes through collaborative, evidence-based care. Role Overview • Position: Consultant / Specialist Colorectal Surgeon • Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates • Healthcare Setting: Multispecialty tertiary-care hospital – Digestive Disease / Surgical Department • Experience Required: Minimum 3+ years post specialist or board certification • Practice Model: Combination of outpatient consultations, elective and emergency surgeries, and inpatient care The successful candidate will be responsible for the diagnosis and surgical management of colorectal diseases, with a focus on minimally invasive techniques, patient safety, and long-term outcomes. Key Responsibilities – Colorectal Surgery • Diagnose and manage disorders of the colon, rectum, and anus, including benign and malignant conditions • Perform surgical procedures such as colorectal resections, hemorrhoidectomy, fistula and fissure surgery, and polyp removal • Utilise minimally invasive techniques, including laparoscopic and robotic-assisted colorectal surgery • Manage colorectal cancers in collaboration with oncology teams, including pre-operative planning and post-operative care • Treat inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis requiring surgical intervention • Perform procedures for anorectal conditions, including hemorrhoids, abscesses, and fistulas • Conduct screening and diagnostic evaluations, including colonoscopy where applicable or in coordination with gastroenterology • Collaborate with gastroenterologists, oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists for comprehensive patient management • Provide pre-operative assessment and post-operative follow-up care to ensure optimal recovery • Manage surgical emergencies, including bowel obstruction, perforation, and acute abdominal conditions • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and surgical records in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives • Ensure adherence to international surgical guidelines and UAE healthcare regulations Qualifications & Board Recognition Applications are welcome from surgeons holding recognised specialist qualifications such as: • American Board of Surgery with Colorectal Surgery Fellowship • UK CCT / FRCS (General Surgery) with Colorectal Specialisation • European Board Certification in Colorectal Surgery • Royal College Certification (Canada) • Australian Fellowship (FRACS – Colorectal Surgery) • Arab Board in General Surgery with colorectal focus • MS / DNB / MCh / FCPS General Surgery with Colorectal Training or equivalent recognised specialist qualification Candidates must meet eligibility requirements for DOH / DHA / MOH licensing. Licensing guidance and support will be provided where applicable.
