About this role

TP Human Capital is proud to partner with The Women’s Centre to recruit its next Chief Executive Officer.

The Women’s Centre is a respected Townsville-based feminist, not-for-profit organisation that has been a safe space for women across North Queensland for more than 40 years. The organisation provides health, homelessness, sexual assault support, crisis response, counselling, advocacy and practical assistance to women experiencing the impacts of trauma, violence, homelessness and disadvantage.

This is a rare opportunity to lead an organisation with strong community partnerships, committed staff, growing recognition and a clear purpose: supporting women’s safety, dignity, recovery and long-term independence.

About the Role

The Chief Executive Officer is accountable to the Management Committee for the leadership, stewardship and day-to-day direction of The Women’s Centre.

Following a period of significant growth, restructuring and funding expansion, the immediate priority is organisational stability. The incoming CEO will take time to understand the organisation, build trust with staff, support emerging leaders and consolidate the strong foundations already in place.

You will work closely with the Management Committee, Service Delivery Coordinator, Team Leaders and external professional supports to maintain high-quality feminist, trauma-informed and women-centred services.

About You

You will be a capable, values-aligned executive or senior leader who combines strong governance with compassionate, grounded and people-focused leadership.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Executive or senior leadership experience leading complex teams and operations
  • Strong stakeholder and government relationship management capability
  • Financial, governance and organisational leadership experience
  • Understanding of cultural safety and the importance of working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, communities and stakeholders

This position has a genuine occupational requirement to be filled by a woman, as permitted under sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).

The Opportunity

This opportunity will provide a highly rewarding executive leadership experience within a respected feminist not-for-profit organisation with deep community partnerships and meaningful regional impact.

A salary package will be negotiated commensurate with experience. Benefits include 28 days annual leave per year, 15 days personal leave per year, paid Christmas–New Year closure, not-for-profit salary sacrificing, and relocation assistance may be considered for suitable candidates.
